Wife and I are thinking about a short trip to Doi Inthanon and Chiang Mai city next week or early March. Been reading about all the "haze" up north but how abut Doi Inthanon and CM city? Or a bit farther north say around Chang Dao?

I remember wasting a day at Doi Inthanon once. Never again.

I'm curious how you wasted a day at Doi Inthanon. My wife and I visit there every year and spend several days. We rent one of the cabins, enjoy eating at the restaurant located in the King's Project and visiting the gardens and coffee shop. Kind of laid back and relaxing and probably not every ones idea of a good time. As with all national parks always avoid visiting over the weekends.

"Haze" - actually thick smoke obscuring the whole range. As I drove into Chom Thong from Chiang Mai yesterday afternoon the plumes of smoke from the moutainside fires was just amazing.

Oh yes, starting from 16 February no burning is allowed right?

Any idea if you can take pets? Smallish doggies.

I doubt if you can take a dog as dogs/pets are not allowed in national parks although I have seen people with small dogs that had obviously smuggled them in.

For siamjourney: On the attached pics there are phone numbers that you can call and they can give you exact directions to their cabins. The Angka Forest View, 087 1126216 and 098 7590935, looked nice and they are located on Rt 1009 in the same area.
