What? Wait, what? Were we not told recently that Thailand is safe as there is no IS activity here? So this cannot be correct.

It seems the USA has done THEIR undercover work for LOS.....thumbsup.gif

Really scary that the CIA seems to know way more about all the freaking Jihad warriors and sleepers here in Thailand.

Considering that the budget for intelligence agencies in the US likely dwarfs Thailand's entire GDP, this is to be expected. Especially considering that the US intelligence community has a global scope, whereas I am sure Thailand's is far more regional. I am sure that Thailand's intelligence community is quite respectable, and that they do their best with limited resources. These are difficult jobs in difficult times.

I would ban all non-Thai Muslims and Middle Easterners/Arabs/Persians from entry into the Kingdom as a starter.....1 death from an ISIS nutjob is 1 death too many. Let's cut out this PC-bullsh!t and take extreme measures. Look at what happened in France.

Let's bomb them all and steal their resources......oh no wait, we did that already!

We didn't actually steal their resources. We simply determined who got the spoils.

It'll mean more business for the katoeys.

There is an entrance to the Siam Paragon complex that has a video camera on a table aimed across a door. It would be very easy to just approach the camera from behind and steal it (that is, if those wires are actually connected to something that works). That's security in Thailand: either something stupidly flimsy or overly heavy-handed, like truckloads of BiB doing their 'storm troopers with bulging pockets' routine.

Wonder when Thailand realises it's not the centre of the universe but a small poor nation in the middle of 3 3rd world countrys in Asia.

Why dont they just arrest all syrians and check them out 1 by 1 it says they travelled from syria also if they travelled from syria how did they get a thai visa and since the original report their visa would just about have run out now which means they would have to renew their stay , why not check all middle eastern people when they are renewing their visa they will want to keep a low profile so it would be easier to renew their visa than go overstay. or tell them us europeans will fight them with our fists no guns or knives just fist fight anywhere they want we can do it 50 tough europeans against their toughest 50 and we europeans will whip their backsides as its only COWARDS that use guns and knives .

Indeed the post of the year. The spinach creme seems to do its trick....

BTW, Australians and Americans, New Zealanders and a bunch of otters aren't Europeans.

Much larger budget and staff, I dare say.

Better to ban the Westerners then IS would have no reason to enter Thailand.

It is worrying that Thailand has not got a special police force trained in this type of operation similar to the OZ AFP or the US homeland security and agency's that back these up in the way of ASiO or England;s M15 , having untrained personal on high alert is like telling them we are looking for a motor bike , take your pick.coffee1.gif

Thailand does have it's own anti terrorism intelligence agencies who work with the likes of Homeland Security and the AFP, in fact AFP is one of the providers of specialist counter terrorism training (info in the public domain). Homeland Security has specialist presence in Thailand which was outlined in a presentation to an Expat group.

A list below of some RTP specialist Thai counter terror groups:

  • Arintharat 26
  • Royal Thai Police Arintaraj 26 Special Operations Unit (Metro Bangkok SWAT)
  • Royal Thai Police Naresuan 261 Counter-Terrorism Unit
  • Royal Thai Police Black Tigers Special Operations Unit (VIP Protection)

Here's an idea. If you don't like the threat of muslims cutting off your head or the heads of your loved ones then move to Japan. There are less than 1500 muslims in Japan and Japan are very careful of checking the ones they let in. They also do not let them protest or preach their evil beliefs. If they are caught trying to they are locked up immediately. The big question is why isn't the rest of the world dealing with these misguided paedophile worshippers in the same way?

Total nonsense derived from a hoax email and regular referenced by those on this forum who for some reason are unable or do not wish to verify by use of the likes of Google.

Stole their resources!? What Marxist fantasy land do you live in? We have been paying 100 dollars a barrel to Saudia Arabia for decades and the the Saudi power elites AKA The House of Saud has stolen 99 % of their peoples resources. Without 'us' there would be no oil industry or gas industry or any modern technology in the stone age middle east.

Um I could be wrong but I don't remember the west invading Saudi Arabia and deposing of it's government. Surprising given it's human rights record and the west's propensity to refer to human rights as justification where it has done exactly this with other countries.

What was that about a fantasy land?

I was in Bayoke tower a couple of weeks ago and that is prime spot, There was zero security in the building all the way up to the top, Bombers could be long gone out the country by time a timer had gone off!..... Loads of nooks and crannies to hide a bomb...... Our group couldn't believe how lax it was!

Thanks for giving the terrorists a tip.

So you think IS suicide bombers wanted to have a night out in a Pattaya disco prior to paradise?

If they're anything like the 9-11 terrorists, then yes!

I remember times when all bars and restaurants in Pattaya had signs " No fragging Arabs allowed." This isn't a racist comment, just a fact how it once was.

These days you could have thousands of terrorists hiding in Chonburi province alone, they got their own bars, look down on us and I'll never forget when they're trying to surround my wife when we were on a holiday in Pattaya with our son.

It's clear that they would like to rule the world and it might be worth to think about all the sleepers in certain countries, ready to blow themselves up with a self made bomb, just to kill many innocent people.

The south of this country is a great example what's actually going on. Tamil Tigers are also using Thailand to plan their attacks on Sri Lanka.

I'm just wondering how much the "intelligence" knows about all these guys? Scary in my eyes. blink.png

The sky is falling, Henny?

Why wouldn't they? they and other Western "Intelligence" hangouts are the ones responsible for these Toyata driving, black flag waving boogymen. Who are soon to start their mayhem in Europe, and the US of A according to a report on PressTV last night.

No security alert on US embassy website as of 10:00, 21-Feb-16........

The US State Department:

https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/alertswarnings/worldwide-caution.html#EastAsia

EAST ASIA AND PACIFIC: Information from credible sources suggests that there is a continued risk of armed terrorist and criminal groups operating and planning attacks against foreigners, including U.S. citizens, in the East Asian and Pacific region. Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) and the Abu Sayyaf Group, have cells operating throughout Southeast Asia and JI is linked to al-Qa’ida and other regional terrorist groups.

Your welcome sweet pea!!

Was hoping your beloved ultra professional RTP would be monitoring these threads and give them the heads up !

Maybe I'll get sued for highlighting the inept security of the building !!

I think the alert is not so much about Thailand ,

but the Foreign tourists who come here ,lax security , equals very easy to kill dozens of decadent non Muslim tourists from America ,Britain etc etc .

Hopefully they are busy with drinking fruit shakes and going for short times. Easy to forget about jihad.

Right on. This is one of the few countries that they can holiday in and drink beer and go for short times, even discuss their future plans over the bar. Why screw it all up by bombing the place. It is really shi....ng in your own nest.

What about the 3000 or so that breezed through that island immigration a couple of weeks ago, when the airport electric went down. What was it the super official said? We are not worried because these people were with tourist groups. We don't see this as a threat.Has he been moved to an inactive post?

its only a matter of time. been thinking this for years now.

Yesterday about 30 muslim men travelled over the border into Laos. No women, No children. Not a family trip then. Why? Stag do maybe? Or are they mobilising their troops? Sadly it is so easy for them to buy the weapons they rely on here and get travel documents.I wonder how quick the police and army will respond when it kicks off.

Just because 30 muslim men go on holiday does not make then terrorists. The whole comment is racist and childish, so I hope it was intended as a joke.

Its no joke pal - its how muslim terrorists operate - group holidays were cover for the London bombers. That amount is a small platoon. IT IS NOT RACIST to identify terrorist tendencies and behavior! It is self defence. I come from the UK which has been ruined and intimidated by muslims and political correctness protecting really wicked people. Dont you be one of them. Ya wanna learn about racism go and visit Pakistan or any such dump.

Group holidays were not a cover for the London bombings, but I agree the UK has been ruined but how Muslims are involved I can't see, bankers, big business and politicians, especially the bitch Thatcher more like.

aaah how refreshing to see someone who cannot wait to see an opening for a reason to slag Thatcher!! Lady Thatcher was in power 30 years ago my friend, so either get over it, or go bang your drum somewhere else. After all, no matter how good a beat is, we all like the record changed.

I see on the news that an ISIS training camp in the hills of Indonesia has been found and everyone arrested.

This has to be good news for the region

Spoke too soon Walter.

Most have been released.

Indonesian police on Sunday released most of the men detained while attending military-style training at a suspect jihadi camp, as officials lamented weaknesses in the current anti-terrorism legislation that is due to be significantly strengthened following last month's deadly attacks in Jakarta.

Apparently it is not a crime in Indonesia to train at Camp Jihad, only when you carried out a terrorist act.

Unless they are going to do a proper job of searching they shouldn't even bother.

Every time I go to use the BTS with a backpack they stop me and ask me to look in my bag, at best they give a slight cursory glance into the top of the bag with a torch but never once have they asked to look under my gym kit even though there's clearly other stuff underneath. There have been times where they shine the torch and don't even look in the bag, just keep chatting. It's a complete waste of time.

It's meant to be a deterrent. Obviously it's not possible to empty out all the content of every bag on to the table, could you imagine what a PITA that would be. And common sense dictates a Lilly white westerner is low risk. They did block me because of a can of spray paint and was confused until I realized how it could be used
