Is that right?

Uncle Too, whatever happened about your Lead Investigator, Maj. Gen. Paween who fled your country? Fearing for his life?

"Thailand's top people-smuggling investigator says he fled the country after his inquiry implicated 'highly influential' figures in trafficking trade"

"Paween Pongsrin, a police major general, said that he fled his homeland because influential Thai figures implicated in the grim human smuggling trade wanted him dead."

"He was brought in as a hard-nosed, experienced investigator — someone who has a reputation for being forthright in being incorruptible," he said.

"And what he found was so explosive that he feels it is no longer safe for him to remain in Thailand."

"I had to do just my duty and not to think of dangers or trouble, but now I realise how dangerous it was," Major General Paween said.

Shouldnt the heading be

"Thailand affirms committment to making regular statements to tackle human trafficking as this is easier than actually doing anything and far less likely to implicate the influential and high ranking military people involved"

For decades Thailand has given lip service to this commitment plus other issues, there nothing in this latest comment to suggest that any real inroads will be made and or penalties increased to deter further trafficking, the same old rhetoric from a indifferent Administration...........................................coffee1.gif

Exactly. For all its faults, Thailand is exceptionally skilled at BS. They have an almost gifted ability to convince people of their lies irrespective of their past lengthy and obvious lack of performance. It is among the things they do best.

indifferent Administration

well, maybe not indifferent, but "extremely invested" would be a better adjective... whistling.gif
