7 day extension

Featured Replies

I am on a SETV that I have already extended by 30 days, my 30 days expires tomorrow, can I go to Immigration and get a 7 day extension?

Thankyou,

Edited by darrendsd

You can apply for a 7 day extension, pay 1900 baht and be given 7 days to leave the country.

Thankyou Joe, there will be no issues at all in getting this?

You should have no problem doing it. It is something they routinely do.

Joe just one more thing, my stamp expires tomorrow, if I go today will they date it 7 days from today or tomorrow?

Edited by darrendsd

The 7 days will be from tomorrow.

You should be ok but there is no guarantee you'll get an extra 7 days so have a plan B. The 7 days will start from when the current stay expires.

Is it (SETV) 60 days + (1st extension) 30 days + (2nd extension) + 7 days? unsure.png

But I have not seen a report anywhere of anyone having been denied the 7 day "extension", have you ?

Yes.

There is no 7 day extension to apply for and it's up to the individual IO or office whether or not they will issue 7 days to leave the country. It's meant to be used by IO's to give people that are denied extensions time to leave the country.

I know exactly what it is for, what I am saying is that I have never heard of anyone being denied it.

Here is one report from a quick search. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/816954-denied-60-days-extension-of-non-0-in-nonthaburi-part-ii/?p=9307496

I not sure that post is a good example of a denial considering the office where it was reported for and circumstances of the denial.

I cannot recall any other recent reports. Immigration for the last few years has been doing them without a problem in most cases.

I was actually on a visa exempt which I had already extended by 30 days, just back from Immigration and there was no problems in me getting another 7 days

The form I filled in was a extension form, I filled in 7 days, it asked for the reason, I stated sickness

It was the same form I filled in when I extended my 30 days last month

No problems with Immigration

It's not a 7 day extension.

A tourist visa or visa exempt can only be extended one time for 30 days (60 if u have a Thai wife). Then you apply for another extension -it's irrelevant if you write 7 days or 360 days on the application-, the IO refuses it, and gives you 7 days to pack your things and leave the country.

Due to ever changing regulations and "crackdowns" I prefer not to have these type of stamps in my passport.

I will repeat again that I filled the form in that said extensions, it was the same form that I filled in when I extended my Visa Exempt

The officer did not refuse anything, looked at the form, looked at my Passport, stamped it and took my 1900 Baht and I was away

Despite all the petty bickering on here about what it is classed as I got what I asked for so what's the problem?

There's no problem now and probably none in the future, it's your option what route you take, i just explained what it technically is. It's Extension Denied - 7 days to leave.

Out of interest what was stamped in your passport?

Application of extension to stay not permitted, must leave within 7 days

Application of extension to stay not permitted, must leave within 7 days

Does "not permitted" mean Refused ?

Application of extension to stay not permitted, must leave within 7 days

Does "not permitted" mean Refused ?

In Thailand it does.

In other places "not permitted" means not permitted.

As in, why would one pay 1,900 baht for something that is not allowed?

Some mod that understands my point help me out, it's a matter of semantics.

My understanding is you paid 1,900 for an extension that was refused and the application fee is non refundable.

No, I got 7 days, the extension was refused, I was stamped with 7 days to leave the country, I paid 1900 Baht for this

Hope this helps your "semantics"

No it doesn't.

  • Author

Well I explained it clearly enough in my last post, get somebody to help you if you don't understand it because I won't be repeating it again

Which is why I was asking for a second opinion, not yours. I understood your "understanding" from your first posts, so there is no need to repeat yourself.

Thanks.

This really is a pointless discussion but....

@lkv is right. You applied for an extension of stay. It was (not permitted) refused. The application fee for an extension of stay is non-refundable, therefore, spent and lost. Because the extension of stay was refused the IO can, at their discretion, issue 7 days to leave the country which, effectively, makes the 7 days free.

All that matters is you got what you wanted, but although you got what you wanted you didn't get what you asked for. smile.png

You're right it is a pointless discussion, like you say I got what I wanted thumbsup.gif
