Best place to get a SETV in Asia

Featured Replies

Long story short need a new visa on 12th March to cover me till my son is born mid April.

Looking to get a SETV but just wondering where the best place to go is? I presume Laos is but been there and like to take a few days as a holiday too. Any recent experience on getting one in KL?

Thanks in advance

Kl is not good at all. Most reports are denials.

Penang is a good choice besides Laos.

Maybe just go Savanakhett to be on the safe side.

Never been Penang will have a look at how accessible it is from Bangkok. Thanks for the reply

Also any knowledge on getting a SETV in Cambodia?

Also any knowledge on getting a SETV in Cambodia?

Possible but takes 3-4 days unless an Agent is used.

Best option IMO is hcmc. The flights are cheap I go there every month. Most of time 2or 3k return. Little more if not booked in advance. Good consulate with zero queue. You need to show flight INTO Los with your application. Print out.

Nice city to chill. Depends a little if your leaving from bkk.

Vientiane is good. You can fly to udon thani and take mini bus in morning. Penang is a hole but you don't need a visa.

Thanks for the responses, the HCMC option sounds by far the best so will go with that.

Thank you again

Jacksam can you confirm a bit more on the flight documents needed as a little unclear.

I need to show my flight info of when I fly back to Thailand from Vietnam?

Thanks

Recently, HCMC has required both print out of flight back to Thailand and an onward flight out of Thailand. I was told a bank statement (balance unclear) was acceptable in lieu of the onward flight ticket.

Perfect that is what I have read, as this is just a temporary visa until my baby is born then will show a bank balance

Thank you for the clarification

Penang is next business day service for tourisy visa. You have quite a few options for travel....but mainly int'l train from Hua Lamphong or non-stop/1 stop flight. Plenty of guesthouses and hotels at various price ranges. And you can DIY or use an agent to run passport to/from Thai Consulate.

More details about travel: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/879418-guide-travelling-to-george-town-penang-and-back-to-thailand/

What passport [country] do you have?

Edit: Btw, once thai baby is born, Penang will be useful again for single or Multiple non-immigrant O visa: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/868463-non-o-multiple-visiting-family-success-again-in-penang/
