Anglokom - Learning Thai

Featured Replies

I'm interested in learning Thai. Having been here for two years I can speak basic Thai and am not an absolute beginner. But I'd like to get beyond having the same stumbling conversation with a taxi driver and learn properly.

I came across Anglokom when doing Google. Emailed them for information and got a very colourful brochure that was missing one - PRICES. I know, I know. It's obviously based on what course I want to do and what my needs are and how long I want to study etc etc etc. BUT I would expect to get an inking of the prices they have. Say a ballpark figure.

Has anyone heard of this company and, if so, can you recommend them? Or, better still, has anyone else got any other recommendations and how long for how much, any good etc. I have looked at "coffee shop" Thai 1-2-1 tutoring too and I am exploring this option but I am interested in hearing how any other people seriously learn. I've also looked at Youtube videos too before anyone says it. Also DON'T say get a Thai girlfriend as I've had one already haha.

Thanks!

I found 1 on 1 to work best for me. Btw, you've probably figured out already that reading is pretty much mandatory in order to nail the pronunciation. And for this you really want 1 on 1 with a tutor who's right across you running her finger along the lines as she reads them and listens when it's your turn.

I found tutors on Craigslist and TV classifieds. All should do a free first lesson to see if you click. Good luck.
