PHUKET: -- Two foreigners were hospitalised in the early hours of this morning (Feb 29) when they crashed their vehicle into a taxi in Thepkassattri.

Capt Natthaya Supanpong from Thalang Police received a call from local residents at 1am stating that two foreigners were injured in a crash on the Baan Don-Thalang Rd in Thepkassatttri. A passenger was still trapped in the vehicle.

Residents were worried that because the accident happened on a dark bend, others vehicles might not see the wreckage and further accidents could follow as a result.

Police arrived with Kusoldharm rescue workers where they found a wrecked red Toyota Yaris in the middle of the road. A British woman was attending to an injured foreign man at the side of the road.

Mmmm....let's get ready for the usual onslaught of "It's dangerous doing ********** in Thailand, so nobody should go there......"

The guy driving was obviously drunk, as were his passengers, so they shouldn't have been driving in ANY country! Thank God nobody died......they got off lucky!

building vacation memories that will last a lifetime.

"honey remember that time in Thailand when we where drunk, smashed a car and we were laying on the side of the road and thrown in jail for drunk drinking?"

"what that the time with the green car?"

"no honey, this time the was red car and you had a lady boy in your jail cell."

How did the rear of their car suffer extensive damage when they drove into a taxi?

The taxi, driver, Chainarong Pethdam, 46, told police that he had just picked up three tourists from the airport and was heading to Patong when the red Yaris, which was driving on the wrong side of the road, lost control, spun and slammed into his vehicle.

Lost control resulting in spinning. Braking at a fast speed into a bend.

Mmmm.....let's see....

Boy racer.....girls in the car...been clubbing...drunk....showing off...oops!

Yep, sounds like completely normal 'civilized' behavior to me?

Just wondering if this was tourists in a hire car....or someone who lives there, but still think they know better? If a hire car, they'll be getting presented with a nice little bill when the Insurer's say they aren't interested!

Probably just left the bar after telling people

How bad the Thais drive.

Or how good the Thais lie....

Good to know the Taxi was keeping up to the Yaris, so it couldnt avoid any collision... on a dark bend.... at the early hours of the morning....

Police said that all the people involved were drunk and could not communicate.

Huh? Does that include the taxi driver and his passengers?

Poor writing of the headline, I think.... The police were referring to the occupants of the red Yaris, when saying that they were too drunk to communicate.

The supplied link has a quotation from the taxi driver, so obviously he was not too drunk to communicate

That said, I'm prepared to be wrong, and won't be surprised if I am wrong.... Now that's just wrong!
