Why is the Prayut government in such a rush with its 4-year, 5-year, 10-year and 20-year funding plans when a new government will supposedly be elected in 2017?

The new government might have a different set of priorities. Maybe Meechai will put all Prayut's plans in the draft constitution so no one can change them. Can't have an elected government decide for the People when the military has alrady decided their future.

The land expropriation for the projects.....

Wikipedia: I was just checking to make sure 100% I understood this properly, and I unfortunately did....

"The process of expropriation "occurs when a public agency (for example, the provincial government and its agencies, regional districts, municipalities, school boards, post-secondary insuitutions and utilities) takes private property for a purpose deemed to be in the public interest"

That will surely return happiness to a lot of land owners... blink.png

Off with your house now, we building a train...

Lot of lands/houses will probably be bought at a very low price for some very high profits...

The most common scam in land expropriation is for officials to be informed of the land affected well in advance. This opens opportunities for early private purchases before the government action is publicized. Profits from resale to the government are lucrative.

Not that this would happen in Thailand, where major projects are so transparent (cough, cough).
