Security brought to highest standard at Government House

BANGKOK, 2 March 2016 (NNT) – Security measures at Government House have been elevated to bring its standard up to par with global practices.

Police Special Branch 3 officers maintaining security at Government House have begun placing stricter regulations on traffic in and around the compound, mandating that vehicles without entry stickers be unable to pass through the state headquarters. The stickers also indicate where vehicles can park at Government House with the Thai Ku Fah Building now off limits for parking.

Other measures to beef up security at the compound include separate entrances and exits for officials and members of the press. The front gate of Government House is now only available for entry by the Prime Minister and foreign guests of the state.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Gen Prawit Wongsuwan stated that the revamp is due to Government House being the center for the nation’s administration, which requires that it have the highest security standard. He affirmed the development was not due to threats of terrorism in ASEAN.

Security brought to highest standard at Government House

Doubt it. Might be higher than before....

highest standard compared to what ?

The tradesmen' s entrance is at the rear, only the PM and Foreign guests allowed

to use the front door.

regards Worgeordie

I wander if the security will be adequate to prevent the mob occupying the place when a government they don't like wins an election?

Thats about the only thing in Thailand that will meet global standards.

BANGKOK: -- A new traffic arrangement has been placed in order at and around the Government House in what was believed to be a beef-up of security for the cabinet, senior officials and visitors.

As of March 1, the Number One gate is reserved as entrance and exit for Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha and foreign leaders. The second gate is reserved for the other cabinet ministers whereas reporters and other government officials and other visitors will use the third gate.

Cars without stickers issued by the Government House are not allowed into the premise and car with different colours of stickers are to park in different parking zones. Motorcades of individual ministers are not permitted to park near the Thai Koo-fah building in the compound of the Government House.

Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan who is in charge of security affairs said that the traffic rearrangement in and around the Government House had nothing to do with any imminent security threat but was intended to put things in order.

Great thinking as now anyone wanting to meet the PM just has to stand at that one gate. clap2.gif

Suggestion for phase two: barbed wire, electric fences, landmines, and a surface to air missile system on the rooftop.
