Thirty-eight unexploded ordinances (UXO) and land mines of various models were found buried in a former Baktrea village jungle barracks yesterday, police said.

Seoung Sameth, deputy police chief in Ek Phnom district, told Khmer Times that five unexploded ordinances and land mines were discovered by a group of high school students who went to play in the jungle in Battambang province.

“After those students reported them to us, our police went down to the area and marked it as a danger zone,” he said. “On Monday, the experts from the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) came and discovered up to 38 unexploded ordinances and land mines.”
