March 4, 201610 yr Hi, I have an important document to send to my solicitor in the UK. Can anyone give me some advice on the quickest and most reliable way to send this. Not too bothered about the cost as long as it gets there. Many thanks.
March 4, 201610 yr If you have Thai friends or family - ask them. Local knowledge and all. Hope this helps a little. Best
March 5, 201610 yr I recommend sending by EMS. I send documents occasionally to the USA using EMS. They track the shipment all the way to the delivery and obtain a signature. It takes about seven days to deliver. I've never had any issues using EMS.
March 5, 201610 yr Just sent my passport for renewal via EMS. Sending stuff out is no problem and if using EMS for return, requires a signature to confirm receipt. My problems are with stuff being sent to me without using EMS. Postman seems to have sticky fingers or maybe just overly curious about incoming mail.

March 5, 201610 yr I just do to the post office and send letters via airmail. I sent 2 single sheet one off this week and they cost 24 baht each. Depending on the amount of pages EMS will cost around 1,000 baht. They will however get there and the UK post office will require a signature. The other advantage with using EMS is that you get a tracking number on the receipt and you can track it all the way using Track and Trace here. http://track.thailandpost.co.th/tracking/default.aspx
March 5, 201610 yr Do not use Registered Mail from the PO. This only covers your letter to the Thai border. I once sent a registered letter to my bank in London. It was returned some time later, endorsed 'Signiture required' (sic), presumably by my London bank.
March 5, 201610 yr EMS is the best, although now a bit pricey after a recent increase. The Tracking will track it to Bangkok fairly quickly, then there will be a gap of a few days before it appears in the international tracking system. Where the letter is for those few days I have no idea.

March 10, 201610 yr Author Thanks for your your replies.Sent it EMS Monday and got to destination in England Thursday.1,350 baht for a letter with 2 A4 size documents inside.
March 11, 201610 yr Has it gone up that much? Pretty sure I used to send small letters for about 650 and A4s and small packets for 950. Maybe yours was some super express version - mine usually took around 6 days.
March 13, 201610 yr I have sent food parcels and documents to UK ( using EMS ) from where I am ( Banphai 45K south of Khon Kaen ). The first parcel took 48 hours door to door, the second close to Christmas took 3 days. No issues with either. However, I sent one parcel clearly labeled as clothes / gift, it was opened by customs in UK and they asked for 25gbp ( more than the pyjamas' cost ) to allow it to be released. Yes it was a recognised logo ( Paul Frank ) on a pair of pyjamas. My daughter traveled to Gatwick paid the 25gbp but no reason given for why they were withheld. Surely if it is a copyright issue they should not have released them, often wondered where the 25gbp ended up.
