BANGKOK, 7 March 2016 (NNT) – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has expressed his worries about a recent boat explosion that took place in Saen Saeb Canal on Saturday.

Government spokesperson Sansern Kaewkamnerd said initial investigations indicated that it was a gas leak that caused the massive explosion. According to the report, witnesses saw smoke and smelled gas at the rear of the boat.

The spokesperson also affirmed that it was an ‘accident’, not a deliberate act by anyone.

In the meantime, the prime minister voiced his concern over the incident while urging all related authorities to prevent similar incidents by taking precautionary measures, making sure that all public vehicles are in good condition.

The explosion which occurred in the engine of the boat left more than 60 passengers injured.

I also wonder why they still overload those passengerboats. There have been plenty boataccidents in Thailand and most Thai can't swim. whistling.gifwhistling.gif

And I'm sure everyone has told him to stop being "concerned" with the state of transportation in Thailand......and start fixing it.

What I think they should be telling him, is to delegate these lesser issues to competent functionaries and get on with the job of fixing the economy and returning the political system to a working democracy.

Fat chance of that happening while he is grandstanding daily in front of a compliant media.

A post containing an aberrant misspelling of the PM's name has been removed, if you don't want your post to removed, spell people's names correctly.

No fun being a PM and not having a mansion overseas...

Now you have seen the body filled with lesions all over and let to rot over the decades...

I'll presume most, if not all, of the unfortunate injured were Thai so we're spared the usual comments about not having an effect on tourism etc.

And there it will end? Not likely any changes from current status quo will be made sad.png coffee1.gif And the BMA leadership will do? SFA!

A pity the PM could not express his sympathies to those injured.

My italics.

what's really worrying is how did they get permission to use LPG in a diesel motor? LPG is now 50% of the price of diesel, there would be no economic benefit as LPG is less than 50% as efficient as Diesel!! LPG is an explosion waiting to happen, diesel is benign! It looks as if a "beloved son" or a snake oil salesman has made a serious boo boo?? facepalm.gifwhistling.gifwai.gif

Oh yes, now I'm very relieved to hear that PM is concerned....

Will there follow actions?

Laws?

regulations?

Will he be concerened about the 100 fatal accidents every day?

Did he do anything?

Give answer by yourself

I think Mr.P should be worrying about the big picture. Can't see any other countries leader standing up like this and commenting on a boat accident. This is at best probably a publicity exercise, but Mr.P, don't micromanage, let the people you are paying to perform these investigations get on with their job. If they don't, then use your big boots. Remember the country still has a water problem, people smuggling, crooked fishing industry, a floundering airline, the new constitution to finish ................................. etc.

One wonders when the General, with all his still unexplained millions in the bank, last took a Klong boat?

Yes the gentleman was right it was a accident. An accident waiting to happen. Its amazing to me that this did not happen a long time ago. Like so much else here they operate on the wing and a prayer principal.

Maybe now you understand why the want to control the media. Yes I agree with the fact he could have expressed sympathy towards the injured. Its hard for him to shake his military mentality. After all he was at the top and very few at the top apologize. Admitting your wrong is not a option.

And since diesel engines don't have spark plugs i wonder how the LNG was ignited. Maybe they installed the gasline too close to the exhaustpipe? Any gas-engineer knows that's a big no-no.
