Thais live for the hear and now, "something good will happen later" China plays the long,

long, long, game. Just look at the drought, Thai farmers still planting, it might rain later

so not worried about the drought. blink.png

We Westerners see things differently to Thai's. We greet the changes with skepticism....when we should be applauding the efforts of the current government in building new friendships and developing the country into a greater than great powerhouse of modern wonders!

Thailand slips deeper into China's embrace

That would be the embrace of a contracting economy.

Thank you China for a cheaper yuan and baht. wai2.gif

Not true. China's economy continues to expand, albeit at a slower pace. A reduced rate of growth is not a contraction.

Who knows, maybe, maybe not. The Greek numbers for the economy were great

when they were presented to join the EU. All fiction and fantasy of course, but the

were all good to go to get in. They say there are hundreds of massive ghost cities

in China. All worthless boondoggles but on the books they are investments worth

TRILLIONS of dollars. All beyond me in the accounting/economy department but

you have to look very closely at Chinas agenda when they present any numbers.

Take what they present at face value at your peril. coffee1.gif

At the first Chinese New Year celebration I witnessed in Thailand in the 80's, almost every business was closed including the Banks, Bangkok was shut down, and Chinese New Year was not a public holiday.

di you realize,

a high percentage of the Reach top up in Thai are Chinese !

Reach will be only one, who reach on ideas to cheat !!

LOS !!

The training includes how to sink to the bottom of the sea very fast, problem is coming back up. Most of the local business people here do not like the Chinese. I have not herd (pun intended) one good comment and have asked around. Chinese tourists don't spend like the westerners do and they are impolite and arrogant too.

You don't need to be a forensic anthropologist to see China having a presence and investing in many countries around the world.

In Africa it owns and operates mines in many countries and gets involved in many infrastructure projects.

In Australia they are buying many large farming enterprises in the name of securing a future food supply. Many of its citizens are buying residential properties and probably without them the real estate market would have been a 'desert' over the past few years. Does that suggest they've taken over Australia and Africa?

I think if you looked at America's presence in Thailand you'd see the kind of insidious goings on that many of the white supremacists on here are inferring. See if any other country/nation has such generous 'grandfather' clauses available on business and property ownership that good old uncle sam has sucked out of the country.

Then again the KKK mob distrust anyone who isn't from Caucasian lineage.

The Americans wrote the textbooks on the finer points organized crime and corruption yet get a free ride from many

That's a perfect win - win situation;

The Chinese will train the thai marines,

so the Chinese will seat in this Submarine,

and the Thais will be able to watch, how China is spying

Thai sea on expenses of Thai !!

Thailand embraces anyone when it is to their advantage. Japan in 1941 is an example. Thailand's relationship with China (communists) flows and ebbs like the tide. Seems it's all about what's in it (or out of it) for them at the time.

This is a lengthy but interesting read about Thailand's recent historical relationship with Cambodia, Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge

and China. It explains a lot.

Strange that no one seems willing to state the fact the the U.S.A. is embracing the Chinese in a similar fashion.

China is the largest holder of U.S. debt. At the end of March, the Treasury Department announced that China owned $1.261 trillion worth of U.S. government securities. As of June 10th 2015

America is not embracing China, China has cleverly purchased large amounts of debts so it now has a stranglehold on the USA.

US companies outsourcing to Chinese manufacturers isn't helping much either!

This should say that Thailand is slipping deeper into there debts with China. The Thais suffered greatly with the new rail system with the Chinese. They must buy Chinese rails plus a high interest rate. Now more unbelievable actions by this junta government. It does not care about the future but only looking like they are making progress but at the Thai peoples expense. They can not get a fair deal as long as the country is mot Democratic. This military man likes bad deals with non democratic countries at any cost. Better quit now before they ban me!

It's the yuan replacing the dollar. Having a Junta in place won't phase the Chinese whereas the west frowns on such things. It is true that the Chinese background Thais run the business world in Thailand but that is because they are good at it. I suspect that as China sucks Thailand in it will be harder to break the ties than it has been with the west.

Thailand needs to be careful that short term gain doesn't turn into long term misery

Thailand is determined to buy Submarines,an accident waiting to happen,

in my opinion.

If they do ,will the Submariners favourite song be" We all live in a Yellow Submarine."

regards worgeordie

watch out for that iceberg...

the submarine will be equipped with special recreational facilities, including a new masturbation center

Stranglehold ?? cheesy.gifcheesy.gif China now has a whole bunch of little

pieces of paper that say America will pay them back over 30

years. ( long bonds ). When the inevitable war between USA and

China occurs over their ambitious take over of the south China Sea,

America will simply void those little pieces of paper.....

It is just not Thailand it is also Laos, Cambodia, Iran and Pakistan. It is to be expected, as they offer cost efficient trade and transport. Next it will be Turkey and Eastern Europe.

"One belt one road" - a network of roads, railways and pipelines stretching from S.E. Asia all the way to Europe.

As Turkey has shot themselves in the foot they may not become part of this "New Silk Road" and it will run through Russia and Belarus into Europe.
