Royal Thai Army to enhance infantry readiness and disaster relief efforts

BANGKOK, 8 March 2016 (NNT) - The Commander-in-chief of the Royal Thai Army Gen Teerachai Narkvanich has visited the training session of the 9th Infantry Division to follow up on the implementation army’s new ground tactic for infantry readiness and disaster relief efforts.


Gen Teerachai inspected the training of the 29th Special Infantry Regiment at Fort Surasi in Kanchanaburi Province that is designed to to enhance the capacity of the local troops to conduct assistance operations in the region. Various divisions have been urged to work along side each other and share information to enhance cooperation between divisions when conducting joint operations. The new tactics aim to boost cooperation between 17 army divisions and related agencies.

Current training will involve 3 infantry battalions, 1 artillery battalion, 1 calvary regiment, 1 field technician support regimen,1 anti-aircraft artillery battalion and 1 royal guard, encompassing a total of 2,799 troops.
