Garment Factory Blames Mass Fainting on Hunger

The 30 workers who fainted at a garment factory in Phnom Penh’s Por Senchey district yesterday morning did so because they were hungry, according to a company representative. Wang Zhi Ping, an administrative officer at the Chun Chao (Cambodia) Garment Co. Ltd., said the fainting workers had either skipped breakfast or had not had enough to eat before they started working.

He said there was nothing wrong with the factory, saying the working environment had nothing to do with the incident. “Most workers eat very little for breakfast which causes them to be weak,” Mr. Ping said, adding: “They are better now.”
