Thai authorities yesterday released five Cambodians who had been jailed for nearly two years after illegally crossing the border to log in Thai territory, according to border officials.

The five men were handed over to the Cambodian military at the Choam-Sangam Border checkpoint in Oddar Meanchey province’s Anlong Veng district.

Cambodian-Thai Border relation officer Touch Ra said that the five men – four from Kampot province and one from Oddar Meanchey – had been arrested by the Thai military on September 9, 2014 after they crossed the border into Thailand to harvest rosewood.
