Thailand-UK Parliamentary Friendship Group holds bilateral meeting to offer updates on Thai political situation

BANGKOK, 15 March 2016 (NNT) – Members of the Thailand-UK Parliamentary Friendship Group have decided in a meeting to offer the delegation from the UK updates on the country’s political situation.

Chairman of the Thailand-UK Parliamentary Friendship Group Kitti Wasinondh, earlier this month let the group’s members meet with representatives from both public and private sectors and various organizations from the United Kingdom.

During the meeting, Mr. Kitti offered updated information about Thailand and its political situation to the UK House of Commons Deputy Speaker Lindsay Hoyle, and discussed opportunities for both countries to engage more in areas such as the economy, trade and investment at a time when the UK is still complying with the European Union’s regulations on the suspension of all collaboration with Thailand after the May 2014 coup.

Kitti also brought up issues for discussion with Chairman of the UK-Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Group Roger Godsiff and Chairman of the EU -Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Group, Park Pritchard.

In addition, members of the Thailand-UK Parliamentary Friendship Group also held discussions with representatives of Thai businesses in the UK to find ways to boost trade, investment, tourism and educational opportunities.

I hope that the UK Parliaments Deputy Speaker told them to go away and come back when they had a freely elected parliament.

Probably drowned out by the general chorus of expressions of understanding for Thailand's situation, and admiration for the herculean efforts of the junta to follow the "road map" which will no doubt shortly be reported...

Thanks for all of that Somchai. Now tell us a couple of things regarding what you are REALLY like.

1. Hows the Koh Tao murder cover up getting on, that oddly enough involved our citizens?

2. How did the arrest and humiliation of some of our bridge playing senior citizen ex-pats finish up? I trust there was a full and public apology?

Thought so, go on, jog on, get yourself a teddy bear from Harrods and bugger back off.

I doubt he said anything like that. Especially as the UK, like the other major EU countries, the US, Australia, Japan and Thailand continue to develop business, education, research and cultural links with Thailand at every opportunity.

If you think the UK government are remotely interested in either of those topics your living in cloud cuckoo land.

That's just to show what can be achieved by a free speaking democratic country and the good people of Thailand need support , they are certainly not getting that from their own government.
