PHUKET: -- Two men were arrested and B500,000 worth of counterfeit goods seized when police from the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD) carried out raids in Patong on Monday night (Mar 14).

More than 12 officers from ECD and Kathu police led by Maj Apichart Amornpradit carried out raids on shops on Bangla Rd resulting in the seizure of counterfeit goods valued at over B500,000. Items seized included sunglasses, purses, watches and others products.

Maj Apichart said, “Officers raided four locations and arrested two men. The two men were taken to Kathu Police Station to face charges of possession of counterfeit items with intent to sell. If found guilty they will be sentenced to up to four years in prison or face a fine of no more than B400,000.”

They did not pass the brown envelope, Or they were treading on another business!

500,000 baht? Must be the retail value of the real stuff not for these knock off copies .

Likely worth less than 100,000 baht even if they greatly overcharge the tourists.

BiB's are going nuts in these days, closing down also massage parlors on PP islands...

Someone in BKK must have serious flatulence problems

......weren't we told that they had put a stop to all of this.....

Just a couple of shrimp thrown on the BBQ to satisfy the USA and EU.

True, just window dressing.

A guy who lived near me imported this and other stuff and was complaining that he had to pay the BIB and customs over a million baht to turn a "blind eye". Of course, raiding the retail shops, which get their goods seized, means that he has to re-supply them.........a nice little earner for him and the "officials" who keep him in business.
