I went to renew my non b and work permit on Thursday and everything went smooth. Visa extension for 1 year in less than an hour and I got my passport back with the extension. Work permit extension took less than an hour. I will pick it up in 3 days. Prior to this, I submitted my paperwork for taxes which took 30 minutes. I needed proof of tax payments for the work permit extension. They owe me and I will be receiving an 800 baht check in the mail. Yuppie yoo ha ra! I can take the wife out for a half decent meal once I cash the darn thing. Filling out the tax form in Thai took awhile because I had to do it myself. Can you believe that university teachers can't help you because most of them don't make enough to file and therefore know nothing about how to fill out the tax form?

I find the Sam Khok office very efficient, helpful and professional. Did my extension couple of weeks ago - less than an hour and they were taking time to remind everyone to do their 90 day reports, not to forget re-entry permits if leaving the country and also emphasizing the new overstay rules.

I noticed last year that they check your passport details on a computer now. Also, the lady who takes your photo is really friendly.

For the tax form, I take my docs to the local tax office and wifey fills it in there. They come over and show you if you get stuck.

People should post these good news stories more often. There certainly are problematic immigration offices, but many of them are a joy to deal with.
