3rd+ consecutive tourist visa... Can I get another?

Featured Replies

My last tourist visa run was a couple of months ago to Penang. When applying for the visa there, I used a private company that fills the forms and does the run to the embassy for you. The lady who worked at that company that did my visa for me (so, she was not a Thai embassy employee, she was a Malaysian person working for a private company that has a visa application service) told me something: she said that because this was my third consecutive tourist visa in 12 months, it'd be my last. The Thai government will not approve a fourth one, unless I apply for it from my home country.

Note that all my previous tourist visas have been applied for from different places: Vientiane, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur.

Is what she said correct?

She had me quite worried with this info, I was wondering if this is some new law that has come in since the Thai government has been cracking down on visas. My friend assured me she is incorrect, that she is mistaking this for some rule where you can't get more than 3 consecutive visas from the same place. He says as long as you always apply from different places, it'll be fine.

What do you guys and gals reckon?

Many reports of more than 3 consecutive setv from same consulate causes problems. Time to obtain it from somewhere else

There is no restriction on the total number of tourist visas you can get and certainly no requirement to get one in home country.

Just go to a different place to get one is all you need to do. Vientiane would certainly do one for you.

I also was given completely wrong info from a very well-known visa service company in Penang.

I just went to the Consulate and did it myself (non[-o visa retirement) with no issues whatsoever.

You should read the OP'S post, that's not what he was asking, he has not applied for all his TV's from the same Consulate,

OP if you have only had 1 from Vientiane you will have no problem in getting another from there

OP here.Im in penang, tmmoew gonna get my passport.I payed in that banana guesthouse for make visa and she told me since this will be my 3rd consecutive visa i would have to pay 450ringit.It is possible to make even if you have 4 entries but it will be even more expensive.Plus you prolly need proof airplane ticket back home

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/898424-getting-a-single-entry-visa-in-kuala-lumpur/?p=10487321

He paid 450RM to agent in Penang even though normally 40RM as service charge and 150RM for SETV

His visa record: 1 double entry from his own country in June 2015 and 1 single entry in Cambodia 3 months ago

MY suggestion : Op should going to Vientiane or Savannacket smile.png

Yes my error. Missed the op statement that they were all from different consulates. He can obtain next from just about anywhere.

  • You should have no problem getting another from a Embassy/Consulate in a different country.

I believe Penang has a limit of 3 back to back visas, but only for visas issued by themselves. You should be good for 2 or 3 from other locations as well, but don't use KL.

I am going to put this to the test. My Cambodian gf will be returning back to Cambodia to get her 4th thai tourist visa

reason for this is, Cambodians (enforced since Feb 2015) can ONLY get any kind of thai visa in Cambodia,

I wonder if they will continue to issue her visas indefinitely

It is her home country, so they may be more flexible than they would for other nationalities. It will still be interesting to know.

Thanks all for your responses. Feeling a bit better about this now. My next visa run is already scheduled for Hong Kong in April and it sounds like I shall have no problems. Will post in here on the small chance that something does go wrong with it!

no limitations for Cambodians to get SETV.

Clearly your did not read this short thread. I realized my error as pointed out by another member. My acknowledgement about post 4.

Glad to see the TV content police (you) are awake. Have a feeling the op might have noticed me missing fact visas from different local.

Do you think I will have a problem getting one more from Vientiane? I have had a tripple from London then a double from Vientiane then a single from Vientiane

My guess is that they will give you one more, together with a red stamp to the effect that you will not easily receive any more. It might be safer to go to Penang.
