Anybody know a good vet in Nonthaburi/ Parkret area that doesnt rip off people

Featured Replies

Just been told my Thai wife is being ripped off big time by the vet she is going to for her dogs care for bacterial pneumonia., be a great help if someone could tell me the should be cost of 3 x rays and a number of injections for the pet, basically cost of treatment for 2 -4 weeks recovery period, out patient

Depending on what kind of veterenary it is, but for proper testing and treatment by well educated veterenary doctors that involves x-ray scanning, blood tests as well as urin tests does come with a price. I don't know what price they're asking for and what a reasonable price is in Thailand, but I do know bacterial pneumonia could lead to more serious infections and even death if not treated early and properly. If treated early, common medicine (antibiotics) prescribed by most, if not all vets will have very good effect on dogs.

Your welcome. Sorry I couldn't answer what you really wanted to know.

Just do what you have to do to get the dog well and take it as a lesson learned. Having dogs is one thing, taking care of them is another thing. It's expensive. I should know, I got three of them in Thailand and I'm sure I have asked most of the same questions you're talking to your wife about, but you'll eventually find the answers.

My experience is, the vets are generally pretty good, my dogs have always got well from sickness and accidents, and without paying more than my friends and others say is reasonable.

If you can say what the price they asked for then maybe someone here who have dogs that have had simular treatment could answer you. Pneumonia is pretty common, also in dogs.

i am with you on this subject,we too have been going through the process of the gravy train senario.

4months in 2015,one thing cleared up,only for them [vets] to find something else.

then the last sept.2015 to march 2016,different vets from sept-feb 2016. being or trying to rip us off finally we to had had enough.

then we decided to travel to a recommended animal hospital, not cheap we were told, but money and good service doesnt bother us at all,as long as our boy gets better. well he has and it took them only 6weeks to give him a clean book of health. and the cost well when i tell you it was cheaper by far than the last three vets who tried it on.

one way to get an idea on costs of meds is to search on the net for pet supplies, then as we found out, getting charged 380bht.for tabs that were 85bht.is just one example.

Xray: couple of hundred baht a pop.

Meds: can't say as it depends very much on the drug.

Should not consider only cost but also whether the Vet is good/knows what he is doing. There are some very cheap vets about that are essentially clueless.

Best quality/least expensive care is to be had at university vet hospitals, there is one at Mahiodol in Salaya and another one at Kasetsart Univ. But a bit of a trip for you plus long waits. Have to factor that into the equation as if the current vet is close by, savings in travel and time might make higher cost worth it.

IF the dog is not improving, though, then you should definitely have her go to one of the two hospitals just mentioned. Best care at lowest price.

I was bringing my to the Thonglor Vet on Changwattana until they wanted 16,000 for a spay. I walked next door to the Wattana something 24hour vet....3000. Ladyboy vet seems really nice.
