Calls to my USA Skype number. Charges to me or USA callers?

I recently subscribed to a one year purchase of a Skype number in the USA @ 39 USD per year. I already had a monthly Skype to USA calling subscription.

I'm not clear about phone call charges related to use of this number from calls made within the USA.

What charges are incurred to callers in the USA to my Skype number there and what charges, if any, do I incur from such a call.

I primarily wanted the number so call support centers could call me back when I make a call to them using Skype. The Skype call frequently drops and as often as not, I have to start over when I call back and get a different representative.

TIA

1) You are paying too much. If you get your own number and an annual subscription it should cost you a total of about $60. Each 29.99 I think.

2) Calls to your Skype number will be charged based upon whether the caller is local or at long distance from where your number area code is registered I believe.

3) If you have a calling subscription, as I do, all calls to US and Canada are included in your subscription.

My Skype is registered with a US number. In the US I use it as my home phone. All calls within the US are free. While I am in Thailand people from the US can call me for free, and I can call any US number for free. Its only when you call a non-US number that your pay, I believe they have plans for that, but I never use it for that.

Thanks for the replies.

My main question is if a person in the USA calls me with an unlimited calling plan in the USA do they pay a fee/charge for calling my USA Skype number and conversely do I need to pay a fee/charge for receiving that call when I have a Skype Thailand to USA calling subscription?

"What charges are incurred to callers in the USA to my Skype number there and what charges, if any, do I incur from such a call?"

if you have a skype in number and answer on Skype App (on mobile or PC), the call is free for you

the price for the caller depends on where you took your phone number from (which state).. but either way its not you paying

that is how i am setup, I used to call forward using unlimited world to a home phone but the connection was terrible so I just dropped that and use the Skype Desktop app.

if you have an unlimited plan ( they aren't really unlimited but.. yeah ) then same deal, no charge for you. maybe a charge for caller depending where they live.

I am from Canada and if it's more than like 2-3 hours away then it's long distance (and $$$) but it might be different in the states.

either way, you don't get charged unless you call forward to an actual number WITHOUT an unlimited plan.

This may not help you much as you are already paying for Skype. However, I do suggest using Google Voice in conjunction with a Obihai device.

I have a cordless phone connected to my Obihai, which is connected to Google Voice, as a home phone ( with a US number). When I receive a call to my US number, my Google Hangout app on my Mac, mobile phone app, and my home phone all ring at once. I can call any US number and the call quality is excellent. Best of all, it is all FREE, on ALL US-based calls. An added benefit is I can also send and receive SMS to any US number for free as well.

The Skype website showed a price of 18 USD for a 6 month subscription to a USA number and 36 USD for one year assuming one alreay has a Skype calling plan which I do at a charge of 3 USD/month. The sales tax for the state where the phone is registered brought the total to 39 USD.

Anyone know the cost to me to have calls and texts forwarded to me in Thailand from calls made in the USA to my USA Skype number??

I'm not clear about the charges, if any, after checking the Skype site.

If you have a Skype USA number, as I do, and a calling subscription, USA originating calls to your Skype number will not cost anything extra.
