Poipet Porters Seek Help After Alleged Assault

About 20 porters at the Poipet border crossing sought help from Cambodian border police on Saturday after a woman was beaten by a Thai security guard for allegedly causing a commotion at a nearby bus depot. A Poipet town police officer who requested anonymity said: “They came to ask for intervention about the case of a Thai allegedly beating a Cambodian girl near the Rong Kluea market.

“They said the Thai security guard slapped her face and hit her head,” he said, declining to say what actions police would take on the matter.The porters said a Thai security guard working at the Rong Kluea market beat the 17-year-old for allegedly trying to poach passengers for another bus company, causing a chaotic scene to erupt at the Thai bus company ticket depot on Saturday morning.
