DLT launches online booking for drivers license exams

BANGKOK, 21 March 2016 (NNT) – The Department of Land Transport (DLT) has launched an online scheduling system for automobile and motorcycle driving license applicants in Bangkok and its vicinity to make the process more convenient.

DLT Director-General Sanit Phromwong has said that Bangkok Land Transport Offices 1-5 field a large amount of license applicants each day, each requiring theoretical training sessions that last up to 4 hours to ensure that they are socially responsible drivers.

To speed the process, the DLT has created an online booking system for first-time applicants available at http://ebooking.dlt.go.th/booking-training/.

Those registering for theoretical training need only to use their 13 digit identification card number and their first and last names and will be able to select the transport office most convenient to them. Applicants will receive an electronic Ticket ID, which will indicate when and where they must report for training.

The applicants will have to produce their real identification card, a copy of the card and a physical check-up report no more than 1 month old to be able to sit for the training and take an E-Exam, after which a practical exam will be scheduled.

Hope it works better than the 90 day online reporting.whistling.gif

don't bring a fake one ( real identity card )

as

refusal may offend.

"each requiring theoretical training sessions that last up to 4 hours to ensure that they are socially responsible drivers."

Wow, a whole 4 hours! And this will make Thais into socially responsible drivers? Unless of course your name ends in Na Ayuthaya, and then even 4 hours community service would be too much to expect.

I am doing my test at Honda Riding School Ramkampheng - costs 1,000 Baht. No crazy waiting times, nice facilities and nice bikes.

2 day course, with the practical, eyes tests and theory - once passed you get a certificate which you take to the DLT along with all the other required documents and you get your licence.

A lot more pleasant way to do it.

They also do it at the Samsrong riding school - had friends do it there

And lasts longer than the extension of stay reservation system in Chiang Mai.

This sounds good.

I took my motorcycle license test on a 125cc Honda Click in the parking lot of the Transportation Office in Cha Am.

Drove around a small course for less than 30 seconds. That was it.

Not sure how driving a scooter proves you can ride a big bike but i was not going to ask any questions. smile.png

and of courseblink.png the "written" computer test was for cars, not motorcycles. the English version is difficult to pass unless you memorize the wrong answers which are counted as correct.blink.png you can only miss four out of 50 questions. that was a year ago. maybe different now.

Given the sad state of road safety/driving in Thailand, I'd say their training program ranks as an enormous failure and/or scam.

Socially responsible drivers???? I don't think there is any Thai language translation for that concept.

  • 5 weeks later...

This is ridiculous. My GF wants to apply for the test in Bangkok. Next available date is 1 of July. This is in 3 Months....

They should just make the test online ;)
