Address in Visa application ("O" Marriage)

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am about to apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa Type "O" (Marriage visa) in Kuala Lumpur. I am wondering if there is anything I have to be be aware off when filling out the following in the application form:

- Proposed Address in Thailand

- Name and Address of Guarantor in Thailand

Does the proposed address have to be the same as the one in my wife house registration book or could it be different?

Thanks!

The address where you are living.

Guarantor can be self or your wife.

Do you have the financial proof to get a single entry non-o visa in K?. They are asking for that according to recent reports. You will not get a multiple entry non-o visa there.

Are you a citizen of resident of KL ? If not I would suggest applying elsewhere.

In addition to copies of your passport you will need the Marriage certificate +copy together with signed copies of your wife's ID and Tabian Baan .

A "Guarantor" is not required and you can enter "Self" on the form.

Some Embassy's/Consulates want proof of address but normally a confirmed hotel booking or copy of a Lease will be accepted.

Ok - so I don't have to be living at the same address of my wife house registration. Thats helpful.

I have a Thai bank statement with about 500,000 THB as financial proof, which I hope is sufficient when guaranteeing for myself.

So I can't get a multiple entry non-o visa at the Embassy in KL? They are advertising the cost of a multiple entry visa (RM550 for "Spouse with valid work permit more than 7 months or Thai Spouse" ) on their website, so I assumed they also issue that. I take it from both your answers that KL isn't a good choice. From other posts I guess Penang is better.

Thanks a lot!!

KL has not done multiple entry visas for a long time now.

You should be able to get a single entry with a copy of your bank book.

If you have that much money in the bank you can apply for a one year extension of stay based upon marriage to a Thai at immigration.

Penang will do the multiple entry visa with only 100k baht in the bank.

Ok - looks like Penang is going to be easier and a bit more predictable based on the reports in the forum. Thanks again for all your help.
