Pasadena
One of my friend every year gets OYSP in Pattaya Immigration office, since 7 years already. It has a visa Non Immigrant O because he has national thai child with parental rights sanctioned by a court. This year, he have not granted a visa because at immigration office need also to see child's mother. This sound new, mother presence should not be required, because the purpose of visa it's only the maintenance of the child, and the relationship with mother ended many years ago. My friend also bring with him the 10 year old child to the Immigration, they interviewed the child who has confirmed all that his father said.Does anyone know what's going on? It's normal?
Popular Post ubonjoe
He apparently was a applyIing for a extension of stay (not a visa or a OYSP) based upon being the parent of a Thai. I can see no reason for them wanting the child's mother to be present since she has given up parental rights. I think he needs to ask for a supervisor or higher level officer to get it sorted out.
sunnyjim5
If your friend is looking for a visa he will not get one from immigration. More detail is needed before advice can be given.

If there is a problem he should ask to speak to a supervisor.

ubonjoe
is the Thai son over 19 years old? could be a reason that he was denied There is no age limit to get an extension based upon being the parent of the Thai. If you read the OP you will find that the child is 10 years old.

Pasadena
I just post this story to know if anyone else get same problem. I am especially surprised that the office has refused to consider the documentation regarding to the decision of the Thai court. They give him back That document. AgMech Cowboy
Thank you for sharing your friend's Immigration experience. I'm still just getting an 'O' every 15-16 months and making visa run every 90-120 days. Costly, but less aggravation.
