October 30, 200619 yr ACFS hosting 28th Codex The National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards, or ACFS, has been honored by the Federal Republic of Germany to host the 28th Codex Conference. Here, the bureau will propose the plan to revise the standard of modified milk to protect infants around the world. Mr. Somchai Charnnarongkul, the ACFS Deputy Director, said the 28th Codex Conference will be held from today (Oct 30) to November 3rd at Sheraton Hotel in the northern province of Chiang Mai. Several issues will be conferred such as nutritious foods for infants and small children. In addition, the quotes of children food products will be based on scientific evidences. In this conference, Thailand will discuss the revision on food additives in order to protect the consumers in the country. Mr. Somchai said Thailand will also make a proposal in this conference so the delegates can go over the draft on the food product quotes in order to help out the consumers consequently.
