Re-entry permit at a land border post

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm on a Non-B visa now.

I'm planning to leave Thailand for Laos via Chong Mek in Ubon Ratchathani

Province. Can I get a re-entry permit at the land border post?

If not, where is the nearest immigration office?

Thank you in advance.

If you have a non-b visa why do you need a re-entry permit? If actually on an extension of stay from immigration you can only get the re-entry permit at the office where you got your extension or at airports and a few large border crossings.

You will not be able to get a re-entry permit at Chong Mek.

The nearest immigration office is the Ubon Ratchaithani office located in Sirindhorn. It it on 217 on the way to Chong Mek just past Sirindhorn town.

Map and address is here: Address and Google Map location of immigration offices

If he is not on the extension yet, and he is on a non B single, then yes he will need a reentry permit on that also, if he plans to exit the country within the original 90 days, otherwise he loses the non B.

Hi,

Yes, I'm actually on the extension now.

I do want to go to the immigration office of the province where I live now to get

a re-entry permit but I'm planning to enter Laos on Monday so think it better to

get one at the immigration office near Chong Mek. Is that nearest immigration

office located in Phibun Mangsahan, right?

I might fly out of Bangkok. I heard that you can get one in the airport, Dong Muang

or Swampy. Is that true?

There would be no problem getting the reentry permit flying out of one of the major airports. The immigration offices in Ubon may not issue you a reentry permit. With the exception of airports and a small number of major border points, normally only your local immigration office (that issued your extension) will do them.

You can obtain the reentry permit at both airports. Easy process. Make sure you take photo. Takes no time but allow extra for peace of mind.

Just realized you mention maybe flying but flying where.

If your flying to udon your domestic. At DM for example the office for permit is just past immigration control. You wouldn't be in there unless flying international?

You will have to get the re-entry permit at the office where you got your extension. There might be a few offices that would do it.

Ubon immigration is no longer in Phibun they moved to Sirindhorn in November of last year.

You can only get re-entry permits at airports when departing on international flights.

Hi all,

Thank you for telling me that I can only get a re-entry permit at the immigration office

where I got the extension, or at DMK or BKK.

I'll leave Thailand on an international flight if I fly out of one of the two Bangkok's airports.

How much does a re-entry permit (single) cost you at the airports? I heard that they will

charge you more than 1,000B for one at the airports.

It was good to know that I couldn't get one in Ubon anyway.

As long as you have a photo, the charge is now 1,000 baht at all airports. It was 1,200 baht at Syvanabhumi for a while, but you did not need a photo. History now.
