thequietman
Hi Guys, The arm of my spectacles came away from the metal hinge. I can't get a new arm, the glasses are discontinued. I have tried sticking with glues but no luck so far. Any suggestions (names) of glues in Thailand that you think might give a strong bond? Many thanks for any suggestions. CharlieH
Thought about having the lenses transferred into another frame ? just a suggestion. ,
overherebc
Any super glue. Elephant brand will work short term, like all others. New frames are the only good fix, with your old lenses of course.
Gulfsailor
That really depends on the actual materials you want to glue. I am assuming your steel is stainless steel, but the plastic can be anything. Certain plastics like nylon or polyethylene are nearly impossible to glue. How was the joint between the two materials originally done?
pgrahmm
Finding a good quality - long lasting - strong holding glue in Thailand is almost impossible.... JB Weld is a miracle product (not available here)..... But the area you are asking about is so small not much would work.... There are some around CM that fuse plastics but still the area you are working with is miniscule.....
MadMac
Just go to any optician. They will fix it for you, usually for free, if it does not need new parts.
Craig krup
Roughen the surface and use epoxy resin. Araldite was a trade name years ago, but everybody makes it - two tubes, one the hardener.
