Retirement visa and dependents

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

My uncle has requested this information. Currently he's on a NON-B visa with workpermit and he has 4 kids and a wife as dependents. This year he's retiring and has asked whether it's possible to have the wife and kids as dependents on a retirement visa? Or retirement visa doesn't allow to have dependents? Thanks a lot !

If he changes the reason for his extension (permit) to stay from work to retirement his family can still apply for extensions of stay as his wife/children.

Dependents of a person with a retirement extension or a OA visa entry can get extensions based upon their extension or permit to stay.

There is no retirement visa but if he obtains an extension of stay based on retirement his (presumably non Thai) wife and children could also obtain extensions of stay as his dependents.

What they all said.

Thanks guys. Yeah he meant the extension of stay based on retirement. So it means his wife and kids can piggyback on his retirement extension for sure then?

Clause 2.22 is for extensions based upon retirement and is shown in the copy of the clause for dependent extensions that was posted. That makes it for sure.

Thanks a lot ubonjoe. One more thing, What are the documents required for a retirement visa extension for the primary applicant, other than having a bank letter showing 3 month seasoned 800,000 ?

Money in the bank for 2 months. First application.

Money in the bank for 2 months. First application.

Although it's the first retirement extension it's not the first extension so the OP should plan on the basis of 3 months.
