Malaysians In Land Scam In Thailand

BANGKOK, Oct 31 (Bernama) -- Six people, including two Malaysians, have been arrested by Thai police in connection with an alleged land scam in Koh Yao Island, Phang Nga, in the south.

The Malaysians have been identified as Tun Tex Hui, or also known as "Valentino", and Gee Khiang Tang.

Deputy Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation Thawee Sodsong said all suspects had been released on bail of 600,000 baht each.

Thawee told the local media that Tun, who is Morocco's honorary consul in Phuket, and his wife Suwaphat Kheereephon, honorary consul of Djibouti, were arrested last week at their home in Phuket's Muang district.

The couple was believed to have paid huge amount of money to land officials to secure title deeds for public land.

The DSI took over the investigation from local police in the island and found that the couple had allegedly used the land titles as collateral for loans totalling more than 400 million baht.

The DSI is also looking for another Malaysian identified as Tun Chi Kieng to assist in the investigation.

Taoism: shit happens

Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit

Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

Atheism: I don't believe this shit

Been a lot going on down here lately.

They seem to be using google earth a lot and have shut down another development on the South of Phuket Island.

Have a feeling the shit is really going to hit the fan here as the Land Office here and Phang Nga have been on the news implicated in false Chanote issues.

Thoough I would have seen more on here about it.

whatever happened to diplomatic immunity? :o

"whatever happened to diplomatic immunity?"

*****

most honorary consuls do not possess an "exequatur" of the country in which they are acting which gives them diplomatic immunity.

Was that part of the Thaksin sell off Thailand for profit deal? :o
