brewsterbudgen
I'm usually away from Bangkok at Songkran and will be this year too, but we're not travelling until the 13th which means the "fun" will have already started. We need to get to the airport (BKK) by about 8.30am, from Phra Kanong. Due to the holiday, will it be easy to find a taxi on the street or should we book one? Can anyone recommend a reliable service? Presumably the ride to the airport will be easy as the streets should be empty!
patyh
If you would not like to risk getting wet.. Grab Taxi is a good option. Booking in advanced will help.. But if you prefer hailing a cab, the sukhumvit road area will always have a taxi.. be it songkran or new year eve.
iamjack
Yap Try Grab. But i tried booking advance 1 day but normally no response as the system will sent the request to the Taxi Near you at that moment. which means it might not be there tomorrow. Maybe can also try Grab Car. those are private car owner but not sure on this Big day how many will work.
Merylhighground
Songkhran is a great time to be in Bangkok as you have the place to yourself as long as you avoid the 'danger areas of Soi 4, Silom and , Bangkok Noi and Khao San you should avoid a soaking as outside of these areas most of what you find are isolated local 'celebrations'. Getting taxis is no bother at all and as the roads are empty the blighters will take you anywhere in good time.
inbangkok
Book one unless you want some drunk dumb ass throwing water on you while waiting for a taxi.
richard_smith237
Options: 1) Use UBER (who apparently now take Cash instead of a Credit Card) - No Pre-Booking 2) Use GrabTaxi (but the pre-booking isn't really that, it just puts an alert out near booking time) 3) Pre-Book with a reputable taxi company to guarantee service. 4) IF your place has security guards - ask them the flag a taxi down for you. As you are going to the Airport - if you want absolute piece of mind you may wish to Pre-Book. If you look online there are plenty of companies offering the service. AOT (which is the main Limo company from the airport) can be booked to the airport.
brewsterbudgen
Thanks. Is Uber actually legal in Thailand. I'm sure I read somewhere that it wasn't!
