RikDao
Does a Thai need a passport to go to Laos for two weeks, or will a Thai ID do the trick? I've heard they can go to Vientiane (only) for two days (only) with just an ID, but ya never know. Thanks in advance.
stoneyboy
For two weeks I believe a passport is required. Without a 3 day pass is obtainable. Edited April 7, 2016 by stoneyboy
theoldgit
stoneyboy is spot on, Thais can enter Laos using an ID card and a border pass, purchased at or near the border, they can only stay in the immediate vicinity, and yes that includes Vientiane, and for a maximum of three night. Over and above that a passport is required, but no visa.
