Which swimming pools are open over Songkran?

The one week during the year when my whole family can enjoy our moo bahn's pool is Songkran but this is also the only week of the year when the management of our moo bahn close it! Spending a few hours at the pool with the family is a far more enjoyable activity than enduring Songkran in the city. I also need to get the kids out of the house.

We live between Ruamchok, San Sai and Maejo so really would prefer somewhere, possibly in a moo bahn, around that area. I'm also prepared to drive to anywhere on, or just off, the ringroads if there's nothing in that area. Hotels are OK but can be pricey plus there will be tourists who think Songkran is fun.

Appreciate your feedback.

They often close the pool at our condo, too, during Songkran That's because the water "goes green" due to lack of proper maintenance. The building staff pretty much is either gone back to their home villages or too busy "playing water" on the street in front of the condo or mopping up water in the lobby to spend any time with pool maintenance.

It's too bad because the few years it's been open, it's a nice place for families to bring their kids to play Songkran in a safe environment and a good way for the rest of us trapped inside the condo to get some exercise.

Change your condo management. There is no excuse for green pools. The condos that I manage will definitely have their pools open and sparkling come Songkran or no Songkran.

Stadium's closed, Chiang MaiLand's closed; pretty much all the sports clubs are closed, you're probably have to shell out for a hotel pool.

You could try the Bella Villa resort on the Samoeng road. The resort sn't too busy at the moment and you can use the pool for 100 baht OR if you buy some food from the menu the pool is free. They have poolside loungers and a nearby sheltered area for the food.

Take the Samoeng road until you see the 2nd sign for the American school (maybe 12/15kms), keep going forward for another 2 or 3 kms and look out for the right hand bend with a large coffe shop on the right. The Bella Villa resort is signposted right next door. They do have website.

It's a cultural thing that so many pools are closed on holidays as staff departs for home. The tail wagging the dog....

In America, just the opposite...could you imagine public pools or sport clubs being closed on memorial day, labor day or 4th of July....These types of venues serve the public or their membership...not so in Thailand....a good example of lack of service...

I would take them to that hotel right behind Huay Kaew Shopping Mall. I think it is called Orchid (or begins with an O). They had swimming up on top, and then you can also go into the mall and look around for ice cream and eats.

Air con anyway.
