More than 50 foreign tourists died in Cambodia last year, according to the latest Phnom Penh municipal police report.

The number of police incidents involving tourists stood at 280 in 2015, which deputy director of tourism police Dam Saray said was a decrease from 2014, though he could not give an exact figure.

The leading causes of death and injury in tourists were heart attack, disease, traffic accidents and suicides, with two people murdered while travelling.

No they weren't, Mudcrab. In fact, I can't recall a single one falling into that category.

Khmer440 keeps a running total for each year and you can read about each case there.

I'm sure there are far, far more than 50 foreigners who passed away in Cambodia last year.

Just taking a look at Khmer440.com proves that there must be at least one a day, which makes about 350+ and those are only the reported ones.

They were traveling in Cambodia and subsequently murdered there. RIP

Who, what, when, where, why, how?

I think the 50 deaths fall into the tourist visa category and do not include those on an ordinary visa or let alone overstayers. They statement concerns foreign tourists not foreigners in general. Cambodia is certainly much more lethal than just roughly one dead body a week. More likely 4-5 times higher
