PM tells police to take good care of people during Songkran

BANGKOK, 11 April 2016 (NNT) – Police are gearing up for security operations during the annual Songkran Festival, placing their focus on accident and crime prevention.

In compliance with an instruction by Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, Deputy National Police Spokesperson Pol Col Krisana Pattanacharoen revealed that police work during the approaching Songkran will concentrate on the provision of public safety through the prevention of road accidents and law violations. He cited last year’s records as showing a sharp increase in the number of drunk drivers and motorcycle riders without helmets.

The deputy spokesman added that the Immigration Bureau has been assigned by the National Police Chief to carefully screen all travelers entering Thailand and coordinate with international intelligence agencies in a bid to keep out transnational criminals and ill-intentioned individuals.

As for the police’s home protection campaign, Pol Col Krisana said the campaign is growing in popularity this year, with more holidaymakers leaving their homes under the police’s care. He encouraged anyone who will be away this Songkran to sign up for the service.

Like the military, takes care of its recruits?

Um, should't this just be filed under 'business as usual'? blink.png

Good job. He has expressed concern asked the relevant parties to do their jobs as required.

Are the military absolved from this decree since they now appear to have the same powers as the police?

He means the Thai people only, i don't think the Indians are impressed. By the way 'Lostinisaan' those are some hot women !!!

I get a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing that the P.M. cares about his people during these difficult times.gigglem.gif

He (the PM) should tell the people to take care of the people during Songkran.

Please don't throw water at me while I'm riding my scooter along the public highway.
