Hi guys, can anyone elaborate, how to get a PoR at Koh Samui?

Last time I needed it for a car purchase in Pattaya (2011), I simply produced a lease contract from a condo

and my passport, and that was enough.

Here the immigration clerk says they dont issue PoR anymore. Is it still possible legally or by greasing a palm? :)

If true, that could turn out to be a real nuisance, and an expensive one at that if a visit to the embassy is required.

They are needed for buying or selling cars and m'bikes, opening bank accounts, driving licence etc. Plus, I think they only have a limited validity. Let's just hope this is a mistake.

What about other places? Bangkok, Pattaya? Is it nation-wide rule?

Some(many?) offices will supply them but they are not obligated to do so.

There is often a "fee" associated with the issue of certificates of residence.

Samui Immigration will issue a residence certificate for anyone for 500 baht.

Bring passport photos, passport and just write your address on a piece of paper.

If they don’t it's big news here on Samui, what kind of visa/extension are you on?

There have been rumours that they will only do if you make 90 day report reports.
