Indonesia's Oil Lifting Exceeds Expectations as Contractors Perform Better

Plummeting global oil prices have not stopped Indonesia from achieving its oil lifting (production of ready-to-sell oil) target. Current oil lifting exceeds the target set in the 2016 state budget.

The Energy Ministrys Director General for Oil and Gas Affairs I.G.N. Wiratmaja Puja said from January to 5 April, average oil lifting was 836,000 barrels per day (bpd). This is huge, considering lifting target in the 2016 state budget was 830,000 bpd. I hope we can keep this up until the end of the year so we stay on track to meet the lifting target by the year end, Wiratmadja said during discussions with reporters in Jakarta, Friday (4/8).
