Visa Extension 60+30 And Then ?

Featured Replies

Hi !

I have now looked at this forum 100 times but i still dont get it...

I arrived to Bangkok 29 sept and i have a 60 days touristvisa and after that i can go to immigration and extend it for 30 days....that will make it 90 days total,so far all is clear for me.

Now to my question: After my 90 days, what should i do to be able to stay for at least 90 more days ?

Leave the country and go to the thaiembassy in that country and get a new visa ? Will they give me one when i already stayed in thailand for 90 days ?

Just leave the country and get back in again ? is that still an option in my case when i stayed for 90 days already ?

I am not working here, i just dont want to spend the vinter in Sweden and are just living on my savings..

I am 31 years old

Please let me get this problem out of my head, and i am sorry for taking up this question again on this forum.

Regards

Matte

You SHOULD be able to do both. Either go and get another tourist visa(+extend) or do 3 visa runs just getting the visa-exemps stamp each time.

The 90 day rule ONLY applies to visa-exempt stamps. BUT, we can not read the future and some embassies might frown on issueing back to back tourist visas(some proof of that already).

All said; if you just want 3 months more you should be fine doing the 3 visa runs.

Cheers!

at least 90 more days ?

Apply for a tourist visa when you exit country and if you are unable to get use the 30 day entry without visa route. Chances are you will be able to obtain at least one more tourist visa.

I have a suspicion that we'll all have to go back to our home countries to get back- to- back tourist visas. Consulates and embassies in this region will be instructed to refuse those who have racked up 90 days in Thailand on either a tourist visa or visa on arrival. But that's just a hunch and no need to get worried about the situation. Just wait and see what happens and have somewhere else to go for a few months if need be. Would it be worth flying back to Europe and then back here to get another 90 days?

Your understanding or lack thereof is about right. No one really knows anything "for certain" at this point. Even the point of having a max of 180days/yr in LOS on tourist visa is a sure thing. I have two friends who were on the verge of buying condos until this visa issue came up. One went into the immigration office in Phuket, the other went to the one in BKK. And neither got a definitive answer to their questions regarding staying year round in LOS on tourist visas. So neither bought condos, both opting to wait and see.

Just make sure your return tix can be changed to accomodate the mood/interpretation of LOS immigration.
