Where to get a good haircut near Nana?

Take Sky Train to Thong Lo. Do not go down any stairs to street level.

Take exit (East) that goes towards Soi 55 (Thong Lo). There is an hair cut place right on walkway level, orange color signage.

Flat rate, 100 baht. You put 100 baht note into machine, and get a receipt/paper.

Give that to them, and get what you need. smile.png

As to their level of English, unknown. (as I get the easy shave it all)

Same business model as "Easy Cut". Shops in lower lever of Ashok MRT and Thaniya Plaza at Sala Deang BTS. Price as gone up to 120 baht. Mixed results, but usually ok.

Yes, there's a barber shop there. Does anyone care to make a comment about it?

I get my hair cut on Soi 11, across the street from Villa Market. It's 250 baht but they usually do a decent job.

Hey camble, is that the one right across the lane from Cheap Charlie's ?

2 really good professional level english speaking International salons in Nana, both really easy to find.

1. Zahara salon Sukhumvit Nana 13  (opposite Trendy Office Building on Second Floor) some lovely girls here that can cut any style or hair texture. English speaking, lots of Expats go here. My advise, call ahead a day or so before as it gets very busy with lots of very good looking Western women ;)

Tel: 0836006176

2. Savanna salon ploenchit Bangkok (Mahatun plaza, very close to the BTS and just 1 stop from Nana, although its a short walk from soi 4) English speaking guy stylist here does some amazing hair cuts. I stumbled upon the place going to Osito restaurant which is just a few doors up. Again call ahead to make a booking just incase.

Tel: 0945488826

Prices for a haircut in Bangkok varies a lot from 80 baht at a Barbers to 1200 at a swanky mall. I myself have quite a full head of really thick curly hair, and a typical barbers cut Thai style does not do me any favors (although they are fantastic value) I need a personal stylist that understands how to cut textured hair with layers and yada yada. I also want a stylist that can make me look younger and ensure i get complients on my hair rather than just shorter hair. Therefore i am fine with paying 450 baht at any of the above places, although it is a lot more expensive if you go to salons in Siam or emporium and ask for the same thing and they dont do a better job or speak better english in my experience.

If you have a particular style you like, perhaps one of the more modern hipster cuts popular back home, just show a photo to any of the above 2 salons and i guarantee they will pull it off without any ummmmms Or blank stares...

When I'm in Bangkok I go to a place in Siam Center. I personally think it is well worth the 500 baht it costs for a mens hair cut. I know you could get cheaper but I know I can go here and get exactly what I want consistently.

500 baht (gasp!) for a men's hair cut??? I think you must mean men's hair cut with a happy ending.

Agree, never been disappointed here and they take care to actually listen to and respect any instructions in english and body language, unlike some "old ladies" who seem to just go crazy with the trimmer no matter what you tell them you want done :)

Been to two regular barber shops in On Nut because it's closer for me - was very disappointed both times, so now it's Easy Cut all the way.

(another good one is in the southern parts of Soi Suwan Sawat near Klong Toei BTS, can't recall the name)

If you're looking for a Thai hairdresser whose English is so fluent and perfect you'll swear you're speaking with a farang, then check Pam Anderson's salon (unisex) out:

This looked good and the website lists services I want. I mailed them and they said no we don't do that. So fail from the start, very poor.

I tried the place in Soi 5, honestly the WORST cut I have ever had.  The 120 baht barber I used to use at times in Phuket used to do a far better job.  Not sure if Haircut II has the same owner / staff as before or what but there were two women there when I went, one in her 20-30s and one around mid-40s.  Seems she was the only one cutting hair.  More interested in talking about her recent dating exploits than paying attention to cutting.  Most of the cut done with clippers, zero scissor skills.  Small, not particularly clean shop.  300 baht just for a cut.  Absolute CRAP!  Never again.

Time after that, tried Big Cut in MBK on 4th floor near the banking plaza.  Not too bad and WAAAY better than Soi 5.  Even washed your hair twice.  If I go there again I might see if they have senior stylists that specialise more in mens hair.  200 baht.

Next time I'll try Zahara's.

Not keen on paying 1,200 for ambience and a range of whisky.  Just a good haircut will do, even if it's 4-500 baht.  Had a FANTASTIC place in Chiang Mai called The Cutler.  Nearly an hour each time, highly attentive and careful service.  Of course CM is cheaper than BKK but not found anything even close here yet that doesn't want 1,200 - 1,500 plus for the same service, so it's been 30 baht salons charging 2-300.  Not impressed so far.

Plenty of local thai hair cutters all over. Just walk down any neighborhood soi off the main tourist drag and turn your head and look into the buildings as you walk. They are all over.

mens cut is about 100 baht. The cuts are as good as a pricey shop.

Theres just us one rule I never break based on many years experience here. Always get a FEMALE barber. The men will get it wrong or lopsided almost every time without fail.

I pay 70 baht, why throw money away?

70 Baht cut by man. :shock1:  I get nice cut from a beautiful lady hair dresser for 100 Baht. Actually she gives 20 baht discount from 120, because i wash my hair (They use some worst quality shampoo) by myself before going to saloon. :sleepy:

I am sorry that, I cannot share the location, to avoid bigger queue from ThaiVisa members. :signthaivisa:

Another good option in that area (i think i may have mentioned this before) Savanna Nail & hair Salon Bangkok and only a short 5 minute walk from Nana or just hop on the BTS to Ploenchit and its in mahatun plaza on the left side. Just get off the Ploenchit skytrain on same side as Mahatun and walk back. Literally a minute from Novatel ploenchit. And just a few doors down from osito restaurant (Great place for Spanish food and Mexican by the way, there is also a Whisgars bar there worth checking out)
The main man/stylist there does a fantastic mens hair cut for 450 baht, or for ladies 550 baht. Its not a barber shop so best not to expect the hot shaves  or Thai barber prices, but if you have that specific style you want from a magazine or the latest hipster trend, its that kinda place where he will do it and do it perfectly, without having to pay over 1000 baht as you will do in MBK or Emporium or listen to excuses as to why you now look like Smegal from lord of the rings.

They speak pretty good English and there also seems to be a lot of expat women whenever i have been there too.

Zahara Salon in Sukhumvit 13
www.zaharasalonbangkok.com
Its a great salon in my book too, very popular with the expat ladies but also quite a few expat blokes ive met in there over the years.

its really not far from Cheap Charlies (soon to be gone forever) just walk across the road and cut through Villa market Precinct. You will have to walk past that seedy area of massage shops but just keep walking straight and straight again until you come to sukumvit 13. then turn your head right and look up. Zahara Salon  is on the second floor with some green stairs going upto it and table and chairs outside to sit and drink coffee or smoke.

If you are thinking to go i would consider booking an appointment with them or book online via their Facebook page. They are a busy salon and if you just walk in you maybe waiting quite a while. i did once and wont do that again.

You will know the difference between a professional salon and your average  Thai salon when you walk in the door and they are all sitting around sleeping or playing on their phones eating somtam, The girls at Zahara have always been very good looking, well presented and serious about my well being and the other customers, for that particular area its sometimes hard to find.

How long does it take to have a haircut?, well i think it depends.. i have really difficult hair to cut which is why i try to find only decent salons that can speak basic english, but seem to have a lot of other westerners going there.

Cutting curly western hair like mine is not easy and so many times ive ended up looking ridiculous. so its great when you find somewhere that speak english and reassure me that they have done hair like mine thousands of times before. My haircuts take around 30-60 minutes with, wash, blowdry and style. also depends on how busy they are i guess.. goodluck!

Just went for a cut at the shop on the second floor of Exchange Tower (when classing the ground floor as the first floor). Forgot to get the name of the shop but there's only one. It's a mixed hairdressers and nail salon. Guy called Yut cut my hair. Excellent, very good service too including 2 x hair wash etc. 400 baht. Bit more expensive than some but worth it to me for the convenience AND, more importantly, having someone cut my hair who knows what they're doing and how to use a pair of scissors!!

Better hurry up..... they are due for redevelopment. One of the ladies from there now works @ Metamorphis at the Dynasty Grand Hotel. Ask for Tui. She has regularly  cut my hair since 2004 and I actually have an appointment on Friday this week

In my experience it doesn't matter much if the haircut costs 50THB (this was the cheapest haircut i ever got) or several hundred THB in the end it depends on the person who cuts your hair. Of course for more money they usually wash your hair and stuff like this, but come on, we are guys, washing our hairs takes like 1 minute in the shower and we don't actually care if it's shampoo or shower gel or plain soap.

It also doesn't matter if they can talk english or not, even if they can, if you explain it just in words, at the end it probably doesn't look as you expected. You should always show them a picture of the style that you want, that's the easiest for both parties.

My last hair cut was 60THB, the one before this 200THB, i couldn't really see a difference, besides of the price that i paid and that for 200 they washed my hair, which i just washed 1 hour before ;)

Ive lived in Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and spent a lot of tme in Thailand and getting a decent haircut has been impossible Asia wide and its not the language. Singapore was just as bad as Thailand or Japan. And the last time I had a haircut in Malaysia the cutter tried to break my neck as well as covering my hair in some kind of smelly oil. I dont know what it is because when I was last back in the UK a few months ago I got a great cut from a high street barber for £10 so its not me. I have more or less given up in Asia, Ive been cutting my own hair now for years although maybe next time im in Bangkok I might try the 100 baht place in Asok station, how bad can they be...come out half bald, eyebrows missing, ear cut off?
