PATTAYA: At 01:00 AM in the early hours of Saturday 16th April morning Pattaya’s Fire Department was informed of a fire at Sky Beach Condominium Naklua Soi 18

The 43 storey Sky Beach Condominium, occupied by both Thai and foreign residents, caught fire due to a short circuit in the water pipe shaft on the 7th floor.

Did I read that right? It was a water pipe shaft. Water!!!

Why would there be electrical cables in it to cause a short circuit?

They put it there so the rain wouldn't affect it.

With trucks and buses it's 'The brakes failed'

With building fires it's 'Short circuit'. If the source of the fire was electrical then it could be causes other than 'short circuit' . This is just a convenient catch-all phrase. Just like 'High-powered rifle' and 'Heavily armed'. Journalistic licence!

It sounds like the water pipe is located in a utility shaft, and the electrical cables are

located in the same shaft, not in the water pipe itself. whistling.gif

Short circuit: switching on the microwave and every few minutes the fan switches on while at the same time the micro turns off........and on .......... And off.

Electrical stuff should be running in the electrical duct shaft, and water pipes in the water pipe shaft. Never the twain shall meet.

I would wonder how many more cockups are built into this 43-storey building...
