PM follows up on performances of state enterprises

BANGKOK, 21 April 2015 (NNT) –Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has held a meeting with state enterprises to discuss their operational progress and solutions to problems.

Following the meeting of the State Enterprise Policy Office (SEPO) which was chaired by Prime Minister Prayut, President of Thai Airways International Plc Charamporn Jotikasthira made known that the premier was briefed on the company’s progress in line with its reform and rehabilitation plan.

He reported that the national flag carrier made 48.8 billion baht in the first quarter this year, missing the target by merely 1 percent, whereas spending was cut by 13 percent or about 1 billion baht.

Meanwhile, the SEPO meeting also acknowledged the sharing of basic telecommunications infrastructure between TOT and CAT Telecom as well as the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority’s amendment of NGV bus and electric bus procurement plans.

In addition, the State Railway of Thailand informed the meeting of its transfer of land in the Makkasan area to the authority of the Ministry of Finance and the handover of the Airport Rail Link system to the private sector.

The Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank was also assigned to limit its non-performing loan to no more than 18 billion baht and to issue a total of 35 billion baht worth of loans to SMEs by the end of this year.

As the boards of these State firms are now stuffed with his cronies, this is all good news for the bank balance.
