Thai Govt respects human rights, MFA tells OHCHR

BANGKOK, 25 April 2016 (NNT) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has assured the United Nations of Thailand’s commitment to protect and respect human rights.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand sent a letter to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), saying the Royal Thai Government attaches great significance to the protection of human rights and that it always adheres to international human rights standards.

The letter was sent after the OHCHR had expressed its worries about the current situation in Thailand.

The letter also pointed out that it is necessary that the government exercise caution in order to maintain peace and order, especially during this pivotal period when the country is going through a reform process, which is hoped to lead the nation to a sustainable democracy and a long-lasting unity.

The letter also informed the OHCHR of the draft constitution, the upcoming public referendum on August 7th, and public participation in national reform.

Not if thought and opinion means you go on a magical mystery tour with green military vehicles for a few days. coffee1.gif

Yes, and that includes gently inviting dissenting citizens for attitude adjustments against their will.

It must be "opposite day" in Thailand.

Oh dear ! Thainess, the rest of the world doesn't understand !

I really hope that letter was proof read by someone totally fluent in English, otherwise it could make the Ministry look silly, at best, or ruthless liars at worse. This is one of those times it really would have been better for the Minister to just smile and say nothing.

I hope they also reiterated - contrary to all the rumors - there is NO prostitution in Thailand.

"The government attachés great significance to the protection of human rights and that it always adheres to international human rights standards"

Yeah right,,, I wonder if that's what the human traffickers tell the people held in the mountains before they get shot, or the fishermen that are beaten daily or thrown overboard? Yu'p I reckon they would agree, almost as much as the Burmese/Lao/Cambodians working construction at half the daily pay rate.

How could this bloke say this B________T! with a strait face, and do they actually believe that the rest of the world believes them?

Well there are still a few here on TVF that will defend them and buy the snot they are selling, but it would be entertaining to see how they could try to give credibility to this steaming pile of __________!!!! C'mon fella's, come on out and tell us again how you and the few have it right and it's the world that's got it all wrong.

"...that it always adheres to international human rights standards."

A blatant lie ....which the international community would recognise immediately.

No they don't ...that's all that needs to be said to be honest !! Prove my statement wrong!

yep. yew betcha!

Of course it was ploof lead by expert in Engrish, my cousin have qualification from schoo.

This job reserved for Thai

The letter also pointed out that it is necessary that the government exercise caution in order to maintain peace and order, especially during this pivotal period when the country is going through a reform process, which is hoped to lead the nation to a sustainable democracy and a long-lasting unity.

The letter doesn't even mention the current draught, Facebook, Thai soapy stars or lottery tickets - all of which make the government respect and love human rights even more.

Either deluded or just liars

The letter also informed the OHCHR of the draft constitution, the upcoming public referendum on August 7th, and public participation in national reform.

What public participation?

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has assured the United Nations of Thailand’s commitment to protect and respect human rights."

They even hired advisers from North Korea to assure that the highest standards of human rights will be practiced here.

To prove this is correct, we can expect to see this week the abolition of section 44 , the attitude adjustment centre for slow learners of Juntaisum and their boring TV programme " Returning Happiness" , then Thailand's un- elected administration might just show some credibility, which is sorely lacking at present.......................coffee1.gif ..

The minister actually believes and means what he said. Non-Thais are not considered human.

"saying the Royal Thai Government attaches great significance to the protection of human rights and that it always adheres to international human rights"

But there is only an illegal military government here who tells lots of lies and places great significance on its own protection.

The letter will go straight into the "Ignore" tray of the OHCHR office.

Joke of the day.....so far !!

"...that it always adheres to international human rights standards."

A blatant lie ....which the international community would recognise immediately.

It is only a blatant lie if one knows one is lying. Sometimes I wonder if this lot are so far up their own backsides that they have come to believe their own nonsense. If so, Thailand is in worse trouble than we thought...

There must be another Thailand they are talking about all the time. Probably a hidden remote island somewhere.

It's an ongoing problem for these folks - they have to try and comprehend a world where people are not as dim as they are. It doesn't work in Thailand ('why does noone believe us when we blame Thaksin for the results of our misdeeds?') and won't work here.

The minister actually believes and means what he said. Non-Thais are not considered human.

Maybe he was just not informed about what is going on in his country.. All just an honest mistake blink.png

The letter also informed the OHCHR of the draft constitution

Yes, please look at the draft.

The NHRC will have the duty to defend the country in case a human rights report concerning Thailand is inaccurate or unfair. This new addition will make the NHRC more like a mouthpiece for the regime than a safeguard.

No they don't ...that's all that needs to be said to be honest !! Prove my statement wrong!

Don't, never have and probably never will. Sad.

They may well "Protect and Respect"...

But they don't apply them...

So technically he has not, in the words of George W ... Over mis-underestimated the issue...

hahaha!! I'll just pick myself up, dust myself down and thank him for a fun start to my day!
