I have a little 2 year old and although I have covered all sockets, there is still the remote possibility that she could stick a pen or key in a power socket, so I want to have ELCB protection.

Is it correct that I can just replace the big 63A breaker market M10 on the left in the picture and replace it with a similar 63A breaker with build in ELCB?

If so, are there different types and sizes of breakers?

Should I just remove the 63A breaker and take it with me to the electric supply shop?

Yes you can :)

But it won't be cheap :(

Only square-D / Schneider units will fit your box, take a photo along to a proper electrical supplier they should be able to provide (or order) an RCBO that will fit as a drop-in replacement.

OR

You could get a Safe-T-Cut installed in front of your box. Many malls, branches of Tesco and certainly HomePro can sell you one and get it installed for you.

Thanks for the quick reply. What is the estimated cost?

Which one of the below looks like the right one?

You need a plug-in RCBO like the one in this photo;-

A number of other members have installed them in the past, try a forum search, I'm out and about at present, I'll have a look later when I get home.

EDIT Post #7 of this thread http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/832008-installing-rcbo/ should point you in the right direction.

The breaker in the picture is labeled RCBO, but the one page #7 (http://static.schneider-electric.us/docs/Circuit%20Protection/Miniature%20Circuit%20Breakers/0739DB9901.pdf) is labeled RCCB.

What is the difference between RCBO and RCCB and which one do I need?

The two items both incorporate earth-leakage and over-current protection.

i.e. Both are actually RCBOs, its purely a terminology difference.

Mission completed at the most reasonable cost of 2,400 baht.

I had a bit of a run around to a few major electric supply shops, but they all pointed me towards Yaowarat, so I can recommend The Seang Ngarm shop.

NB: The glasses were 40 baht in China Town.

NBB: The darn thing is Made in Thailand.
