Residents Associations - Work Permit Required?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what the situation is with residents groups to maintain security and other sevices within housing developments in Thailand?

Are falangs allowed to be appointed as representatives for a village, to deal with collection of maintence payments etc? Such a position would be unpaid but as it presumably could be deemed as depriving a Thai of work it may possibly not be permissable.

If allowable, would a work permit be required ?

Any help appreciated.

You need a work permit even if you are a volunteer.

Ouch!! Thanks Sunbelt - I think!

Would the work permit still be required if the falang's only contribution was the attending of meetings and discussing policy with Thai's being used/paid to carry out any actual work still require the permit?

No work permit is needed, if you are just attending group meetings and the actual work is performed by Thais.
