How'd he get in a situation where two scrawny Isaan kids could cuff him with his own handcuffs before the beating?

Didn't find him sleeping now, did they?

There were many Thai and foreign eye withnesses.

As in the Hua Hin beatings. Many around watching an old man get beaten and no one doing anything about it. Terrible. So much about having respect for elders.

From the original topic:

Songkran Moonsarn, 48, a guard at the Dusit Thani Hotel was on his way home after 3am walking along Beach Road as he was repeatedly assaulted then tied up and hit in the face with the bit of wood.

Craigt: Most Thais are COWARDS and if it were a frange being beating they would have jumped in to get their cowardly kicks in.Also a Thai thinks that it is "impolite" to tell or suggest that another Thai is doing wrong. If they would have said anything they are in fear that Those guus would turn on them. As I said "most young men here are axxholes ".

Well hell! There were more than once when I felt like doing [during my 7 years of living in Thailand] this to a so called "security guard!" Some day, maybe, Thailand will learn what a true "security guard" is and the "guards" maybe will learn what their legal limits actually are... And what their real duties are!

What pills you on! A security guard can be someone that monitors a carpark. Does not mean a bouncer at a night club. You have been here 7 years..

In Thailand the words "security guard" cover many levels where the only common ground tends to be a person (male or female) wearing a uniform who salutes or opens doors for you. It seems that no training is necessary and as long as you are prepared to work for peanuts the job is yours.
