Regardless of who or what Watana maybe , the message this sends to the international business community is to stay well away from Thailand..........................coffee1.gif .

Nope. The international business community are very active and will continue to be. They carry out their own due diligence and risk assessments, as they do with all countries.

Just flip back and see how many governments, ngo, educational establishments and corporations have been here, held talks or are already actively involved in implementing things.

They factor in risk assessments, but really have no or very little concerns apart from some window dressing when it comes to CSR programs and annual reports.

Actually, the message it sends to the whole world, is to stay well away from Thailand.

only to that part of the world that don't understand

that Watana is not standing for democracy but for a former regime that robbed the country to the bones and want to resume asap

he is not following his consciousness but is a dishonest trickster payed by another even greater dishonest trickster

and

the military regime is the only alternative Thgailand has to the previous robbing dishonest regimes which were far from democracy (t: democracy is NOT the ggoal) but using the word democracy for just opportune reasons

and there is no developed strong democratic group that could bring the country forward

the present military regime is the only chance Thailand has - they performed better than the previous dishonest, even criminal regimes - let's wait what they will achieve

"they performed better than the previous dishonest regimes - let's wait what they will achieve".

A line that is often used here on TVF to some who try to give legitimacy to the junta, and often by many refuted charging them with doing sweet FA except for lotto tickets, deck chairs on the beach and putting them self well above the law and beyond reproach.

So here's your chance yet again The facts of the Thaksin lead governments economic and social achievements are well documented, now the challenge for you would be to list the PM's achievements, and make compare them. Good luck with that mate cheers.

You also claim Watana " is not acting with (consciousness)"? but is a trickster and paid by a trickster, guess you have proof of that also huh? again good luk with that.whistling.gif

And Thaksin's conviction and outstanding court cases are also well documented; as is his involvement in crimes for which charges have not (yet) been brought.

Or perhaps you think he is the one defendant in the Krungthai Bank fraud case that is really innocent? Others defendants were found guilty and received long prison sentences. He prefers to remain a fugitive and wait out the statute of limitations, now his attempt at whitewashing himself failed. Why do you think that is?

Watana was/is a loyal PTP MP who voted as instructed and towed the party line.

Regardless of what the Junta has and has not done, PTP have not been transformed by some miracle into champions of democracy, justice, morals, and ethics overnight. They are the same old corrupt bunch, headed by the same crook, trying to unsettle the country in the hope they can return to power, get control of the trough back, push through the 2.2 trillion loan and most importantly some how contrive a total amnesty for their boss.

Any who thinks otherwise is very naive at best.

No, not by some miracle but by the ham fisted actions of the junta. Had politics been allowed to run its course, they would quite possibly be a busted flush by now.

Still posting about Thaksin's amnesty shows junta supporters to be very low IQ or just unreasonable for their own biased sake. Not once have they properly answered how they are not stale air mouthing hypocrites.

Maybe I and a considerable number of others are naive.

But, regardless of what the Junta has and has not done (and what lengths do they have to go to before you take regard of what they do?) perhaps you should reflect on a few points...

Anyone who argues that: a junta government. installed after a totally legal and constitutional election was trashed by a minority of paid protesters, whilst the military who pulled the said coup stood by, and then used the resulting chaos as their excuse to seize power, has any legitimacy shows complete disregard for the democratic process. That's you.

Anyone who thinks tit acceptable hat a junta government exercises political control through decrees, arbitrary detention of opponents, attempts to control freedom of speech and preventing political debate, has no time for the Thai peoples rights and freedoms.. He backs authoritarian rule rather than an elected government. That's you.

I think we all get the fact that you loathe Thaksin and his political faction. We know that you think he's a crook, his sister is a puppett and any politician who belongs his party must be a corrupt amoral mouthpiece for your bogeyman. We have heard it ad nauseam. We get it. You however think that your opinion of Thaksin and Pheu Thai is in itself a reason why the choice of the Thai electorate, repeatedly expressed through the ballot box, should be overturned by self appointed guardians of an entrenched elite. You choose to disregard that choice, because you do not like it. That is not naive , it is contemptuous and arrogant. That's you.

They factor in risk assessments, but really have no or very little concerns apart from some window dressing when it comes to CSR programs and annual reports.

According to the Bank of Thailand, which reports Foreign Direct Investment monthly, with a breakdown by countries of origin, total annual FDI was as follows (all figures in USD millions):

2012 12,899

2013 15,936

2014 3,720

2015 8,027

The FDI reported for Jan/Feb 2016 could be heralding a recovery, but it is too soon to say that with any confidence.

Within ASEAN, most other countries have been outperforming Thailand with respect to GDP and Foreign Direct Investment over the past 2 years.

Notably, investment from China and Russia is virtually nil despite much ballyhooed initiatives. Japan and Singapore are significantly larger investors. Perhaps the current government has noticed this, given recent talks with Japanese rail investors.

At any rate, the risk assessments were certainly done, and a wide range of investors scaled back suitably, as evidence by the data. I'm guessing 2016 will be a "wait and see" year for many, what with the great uncertainty regarding the future form of government.

Another junta lover that is blind to the corruption in the military.

"and there is no developed strong democratic group that could bring the country forward"

Of course not, the junta saw to that by banning elections and freedom of expression.

"the present military regime is the only chance Thailand has - they performed better than the previous dishonestt, even criminal regimes"

Really? How have they performed better than the elected governments? How is a coup against an elected government and dissolving the constitution not criminal? Why, if they are doing so well, are they afraid of elections?

It doesn't show that they have very low IQ because I believe that some are quite intelligent. What it does show is that they themselves cannot find anything positive to write about in regards to their so called saviors of Thailand.

I have said in previous posts that foreigners as much as Thais do not like to lose face.

So much better to continue to bring up old news as opposed to admitting they were wrong.

It still manages to make them feel good.

Without naming names, just look above your last post. There's one junta flunky who doesn't even know the difference between 'conscience' and 'consciousness'. As ironic as that already is, I see it in a long line of simplistic thinking from the pea-brained Alright Jacks of this world who have made up a large part of the pro-junta support on the forum since the coup.

You may be right to an extent that some are trying to save face, but there are evidently plenty of bottom-feeders still sucking the junta's teat and swallowing that kool aid.
