Chao Khun Thongchai hands the same type of ‘pha yant,’ or spirit cloth, he presented to Leicester City players to Thailand’s national women’s volleyball team Monday at Wat Traimit in Bangkok.

BANGKOK — Looking to capitalize on some of the same mojo that has propelled Leicester City FB from zeros to heros, the national women’s volleyball team today sought Olympic blessings from the same famed monk to bless the Leicester lads.

The national team Monday morning went to Wat Traimit where they received the same type of spirit cloth from Chao Khun Thongchai that the monk gave to Team Leicester, which is on the cusp of winning the English Premier League.

Good grief.

So every team in the EPL will be on the plane to Thailand before next season starts ?

"Leicester win: Did Thai monk's blessing seal victory?"

No.

Think maybe it has to do with how fair and good the main sponsor King Power is....................................

Cue all the knockers who will say that the blessing had nothing to do with Leicester's success.

"Leicester win: Did Thai monk's blessing seal victory?"

No.

I think there's another scam, sorry ' donations ' to the temple routine, brewing.

there ain't no Buddhism like Thai Buddhism!

there ain't no Buddhism like Thai Buddhism!

Thai Buddhism ain't nothing like philosophical Buddhism. It has more in common with carnival sideshows.

"Did Thai monk's blessing seal victory?"

No, but I'll Hazard a guess who did! post-4641-1156694572.gif

Thai Athletes Say: No Need For Training, Just Get Blessing

In a final development that compliments a pervading attitude in Thailand, the Thai Athlete Association just confirmed that sweaty training days are a thing of the past: "Why should we train so hard, build up stamina and push our bodies to the limit, when all we need for victory is the hanky of a magic monk?!"

Even the armed forces are interested in this spiritual progress: "If it works for sports, why not for the battlefield? It's quite a similar situation - the cloth would have to be bigger of course, so it can contain more magic, but that's really the only difference. We'll keep the same defense budget, of course, just in case....know what i mean?"

So every team in the EPL will be on the plane to Thailand before next season starts ?

No...they will just get a Thai dictionary to learn that the translation for 'same mojo' is baht under the table.

I hadn't realised that, when Leicester came under the umbrella of Thai ownership, its players came under the umbrella of Thai superstition.

Under that same umbrella is tea money, brown envelopes, baht and sold university degrees, Olympic skiing medals, etc.

How blind do you have to be not to see the possibilities when a struggling FIFA--trying to reclaim some semblance of transparency and fairness amidst their history of rampant corruption--entertains a billionaire Thai with a squad of long-shots?

It is a public relations script made in Heaven. The little team of underdogs owned by a Thai culture nobody knows squat about edges past all the smart money bets.

All the big bucks teams are overcome so it gives the appearance that money does not govern the sport. It looks at face value like the little train that could but drilling deeper in thought reveals the enhanced financial potential for FIFA and a Thai billionaire, and the closed circle of privileged insiders, in an unprecedented "upset."

FIFA, EPL, soccer worldwide.....as legitimate a sport as WWE wrestling.

Entertainment...? Yes.

Sport...? Not so much.

Ask the players - have you ever met this monk? And congrats on winning the PL and to your manager - breath of fresh air - let's see if any of the players or Manager has met the golden robed one
