Pattaya To Phuket

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'll be moving to Phuket in a week and a half and I'm considering my travel options. It's pretty straight forward how to get to Phuket via airplane, but I was wondering what the potential routes on land are. More specifically, what bus terminals/train stations can I use to get me to Phuket?

Thanks for any help.

1.forget train: PTYA has just 1/on weekdays only, Phuket nearest by is Surat=4-5 hrs away.

2.BUS; dead easy (but somehow it seems90% of even regular Thai-goers and visitors on this forum shun buses alltogether): I guess that youve used it at least to REACH PTY,nah?

1.Bus to BKK; choose the MOTORWAY express bus to MOCHIT but get OFFat new airport terminal! 1 of the wondrs of this snakepit-thing! There is now also a dedicated 4times daily yellow bus to it from PTY- check suvpoom branch for details.

2.BUS 556 (orange) to the end= Sai Thai terminal, will take about 60-75 mins, runs mainly moter+expressway.cost 35 baht.

aim to arrive Sai Thai not later as around 17.30/18.00

3.At least 4 DIFFERENT companies offer 1st class tourbuses to Phuket/town, all at the same price (like 5/600) and all also lve around same time: 19.00-20.00; NOTE: some slightly better private tourbuses are handled from offices AROUND the rather dated looking official terminal.

There is a cheaper choice: 2nd clas bus, same times, also with AC, but NO free meal/drinks on baord and usually older buses. These are handled at the FURTHER out terminal, and are white+orange.
