Same day tourist visa on arrival Chiang mai - Kuala Lumpar still possible?

Featured Replies

Hello, so my current situation is that I have just finished a job with a volunteer organisation and will be starting a new job next month.

I have a month before I can receive paperwork from my new job to apply for a new non b visa. But my work permit is being cancelled today.

I do not have enough money or spare time to go on holiday to another country as I have to be back for an engagement geeju ceremony with my boyfriend (I've already upset the family by pushing the date because i found out i couldn't do a tourist visa on entry at mae sai beforehand)

My question is, is it still possible to do a same day visa run to kuala lumpar (tourist visa on arrival) with the new rules in place. As I only need to be on a tourist visa for a month I would rather save money and time and not have to go to the embassy if I can.

Thanks in advance for any help.

There are no "tourist visa on arrival" available.

If you are from a qualifying country you may receive a visa exempt entry --- 15 days or 30 days if from a G7 country by land or 30 days for all who qualify arriving by air.

Sorry, I wasn't aware of the correct name but that is what I meant. Thank you, yes I am from a G7 country.

Thanks for your help.

If you wanted to you could go to the Chiang Khong crossing to Laos and do a border hop to get a 30 day visa exempt entry. Just cross, turn around and come back.

Hi sorry, with doing a border hop into Laos would I still need to pay for the Laos tourist visa?

Just trying to weigh up prices.

You would need to pay $30 to $42 dependent on your nationality or 1500 baht for a visa on arrival for Laos.
